[A] Assigning additional Administrator permissions

A quickie before I really screw things up. I'm the sole Admin on my phpBB 2.0.6 (soon to be upgraded) board, and I'd like to assign another person as an Admin. Can this be done without causing problems? I guess the obvious thing to do is to try it - but I'm a really busy guy and I don't want to crea...

Yes - that was going to be my second thought - cookies. I've had problems with this, too. It's determined by the sessioncookie in config.inc.php I think.....

This would be very useful in instances where, for instance, you want to ensure that people log their location. Not because you want to send the menu in suits around (although that might be a good way of getting extra subscriptions out of people), but because there are instances where it's relevant t...

Are both sets of page scripts (eg: forums) addressing the same database? If so, you'd need a separate database. I have two databases on mine and with them it works fine.

Occasional appearance of "Edited by..." entry

I'm using v 2.0.6 (I tried the vulnerability patch but after two attempts at code hacking it I gave up - it sent everything loopy) and I've the occasional appearance of the unwanted "Last edited by..." line at the foot of posts. It happens very rarely and I've neither invoked it nor cancel...

Thanks. That's what I'm now going to do. I know it kind of seems obvious, but I guess I was just a bit optimistic in thinking I could go the whole leap from 1.4.4 to 2.1. I might even risk upgrading on the existing server (the live one, currently) and getting it working before migrating the whole pa...

No, the upgrade utility won't work because on the new server (don't forget that I'm installing clean on the second server) I'm starting with phpBB 2.1. I'm not upgrading from anything, but I am attempting to import data from the 1.4.4 installation on the first server. I could, fo course, attempt an ...

Migrating phpBB to new server AND updating - easy? No way!

I'm planning to move hosts in the coming week, and I thought that this would be a good opportunity to upgrade from v1.4.4 to v2.0.1. I did a MySQL "data and structure" dump and then installed a clean version of 2.0.1 on the new server. OK. Fine. No probs. It was only when I then imported t...
