Yes - that was going to be my second thought - cookies. I've had problems with this, too. It's determined by the sessioncookie in config.inc.php I think.....

Are both sets of page scripts (eg: forums) addressing the same database? If so, you'd need a separate database. I have two databases on mine and with them it works fine.
