Re: Recomendations on image hosting services

Host it yourself. Whatever size requirements you have scales with the popularity/size of your board. Even if you expect a few hundred images, we're only talking about 10-20MB based on average image size of 100kb. This is easy to achieve with plupload and sensible image size limits in the ACP. We ha...

Re: Are Facebook, VK and other social nets killing your forums?

I am happy with this information :) I have never had FB and I do not plan to have it. However, I am watching young people. They are on FB. Hence, I share some of the concerns of the author of the first post because I can see how young people are looking for information - not on forums but on the gr...

with a little perseverance, and some educated guesswork, i was able to make a google spreadsheet display and i didn't have to enable a guest access :) thank you for all your explanations and the original groundwork that i used to get it working.
Great! Good to hear.

Re: Excel spreadsheet embed

Yes you can definitely do what you want with Google Sheets. When you upload a spreadsheet, you can create an embed code automatically from within Google Docs, as described here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/google-docs/ It should actually be easy to implement, but you'll need to set up a differe...

Re: Excel spreadsheet embed

Ok I've thought of a potential workaround for you. You can set a user permission in the ACP for "can download files". You can do this at a user, group and forum level. In the ACP go to "users and groups" > group permissions > select the "guests" group > advanced permissions > post and click the yes ...

Re: Excel spreadsheet embed

Is the relevant post accessible only to registered users? If so, the office app won't have necessary permissions to access the attachment from the direct path. Are you asking if the post where I tried your method only viewable if you are registered for my forums? If so the answer is yes you have to...

Re: Excel spreadsheet embed

hi, and if I wanted to use the file with the function attachments instead of using url? It's possible? ;) Best regards. Yes. You need to use the direct file.php? URL instead of the attachment file name. The quickest way I've found to grab that is to attach the file, then click post preview then rig...

Re: CPF Icons

The fact that in 2018 ICQ, Yahoo Messenger and AOL messenger (which as of 2017 no longer exists) are standard profile fields but there is no field or icon for Instagram (with c. 800 million users) is a very strange anomaly. I have added a custom profile field for Instagram but would need to dig into...

You don't even need to subscribe to rss feeds. You can follow phpBB on Twitter or Facebook where new versions are also announced.

It's not framework's fault, it's a common problem: you cannot identify uniquely a user if it's not logged so you cannot prevent them to issue multiple thanks for same post.
