phpbb uses mysql and sometimes mysql, if not adjusted properly (usually its tweaked by your provider) can slow down when processing phpbb posts and requests while other things will run ok. As for the files, the 404 is the standard "page not found" error which appears to be missing from your website....

transfer doesnt relate to how reliable the machine itself is. Im just guessing that the machine might be jammed up with processing. I could be wrong

There are TONS of good posts on this board about fighting them There is a MOD that does exactly what you want. It blocks URL entering from spammers but users can go into their profile after registering to enter their URL if necessary. The MOD can also be set to BAN IP's of spammers as they register ...

Veruca, 480 is BYTES, not 480Kb (480,000 bytes). Youd need to enter 480000. Maximum Avatar File size in the admin panel is a BYTES setting so I think your number is way too low

What he said above.

That file has to be uploaded via ftp to your server into the directory mentioned. Then you go to that file via a browser (as if opening a website address) and it will run and tell you what to do.

Delete the file from your server when done

How long has the board been running in total (weeks, months, years?). You might want to check the server to see if its bogged down for some reason.

It might be that the server is slow and cant process the posts fast enough. Ive seen boards where it takes 10 seconds just for the post-reply to get processed

Way to block, remove, or edit a website link in a post?

Without doing an overall mass "disallow html or bbcode" option, is there a way to block certain website urls?

If you enter a URL in the "words censor" list the post will display the edited words but the URL link still remains. Im trying to ban certain urls or convert those urls into something else.

I havent done all the things JIM mentioned but I do have Visual Confirmation enabled and get about 5 spam bot registrations per day. Ive installed 2 other MODS and within days they got around that. As far as I can tell its automated bots and good programmers. In the past year Id say Ive removed clos...

Installed on 2.0.21. Great MOD

This mod prevents spam guest poster bots. Prior to this MOD there was nothing that stopped guest bot spam posters. Not even the visual confirmation worked.

This simple drop down menu MOD does the trick and I disabled visual confirmation for guests to save time.

Ive never been one for censorship or attempted control over my posters so I cant block guest posters entirely. My sites posters are often at work or on computers that are not their own and need to post quickly without logging in. We use this MOD: Anti-bot Guest Post Mod on our forum. We allow guest...
