Re: Question about basic template syntax.

Ok, at this point I really do have to ask: what on Earth possessed the devs to decide that HTML comment syntax should be used for PHP conditionals? I mean I get that it works, and I get that everyone here will be used to it, but from an outsider's perspective it seems utterly bizarre. I'm not angry ...

So IF 0 is a fake PHP condition which can be used on purpose. Like if you say IF 1 + 1 = 3 (false)
Yep, I understand that.

Re: Question about basic template syntax.

the way you wish to use it is fine. it will never be confused with a variable. you also do not have to put a line break, a simple space is all that is required but you can use as many spaces, line breaks as you wish as long as there is at least one space after the two dashes and one before the endi...

Re: Question about basic template syntax.

Yes, I know it's HTML. Or, if you prefer :D <!-- Yes, I know it's HTML --> My point is that out of the two code blocks quoted, one is an actual comment, namely this one: <!-- phpBB style name: prosilver Based on style: prosilver (this is the default phpBB3 style) Original author: Tom Beddard ( http:...

Question about basic template syntax.

I'm just wondering about the allowable syntax for comments inside templates. According to the docs page over here any comments should be formatted as: <!-- IF 0 --> Your comments can go here, because "0" is always false. <!-- ENDIF --> However, I notice that in the default overall_header.html there ...

Re: [DEV] Button menu

This still works perfectly on 3.2.8, as far as basic functionality goes. Only real drawbacks are a/ it doesn't fit that well with a range of styles and b/ not responsive. I'm thinking I'll hack my copy to make it suit what I want. Ditch the colour variables and spans, and do all the styling with CSS...

Re: Upgrade problem: 3.2.0 to 3.2.8 - Automatic upgrade option

Ok. :D It's a bit odd then that the admin centre told me to use the automatic update. Which I did, not having worked with phpBB admin before. But I'll keep the other procedure in mind for future reference. There were a couple of minor edits to some core files, but those were merged without problems ...

Upgrade problem: 3.2.0 to 3.2.8 - Automatic upgrade option

Hi, Fun and games for my first post here. I've inherited an old site, which I am wanting to upgrade from 3.2.0 to 3.2.8. I started by deactivating all the extensions, via the correct procedure in the admin centre. I then downloaded the Automatic Upgrade package as recommended on the admin centre hom...
