Re: Password convert problems - why?

Yes, but why would that happen? As long as the system stores the password as a MD5 hash, it would be exactly the same, as both phpBB 2 and 3 uses MD5 with no password salting.

The string "åbc" would be stored as 356737334cc9bffc14c5c33acdaa19fc, as long as MD5 is used, so how can that change?

Password convert problems - why?

I've briefly looked at the phpBB 2 & 3 code and it seems like the password is stored as an MD5 hash in both versions. If it's stored as MD5, why will some of the password conversions fail?

Re: 500 server error when I try to convert

How many posts and users do you have? If your board isn't very big (less than 50K-100K posts+users; depending on how long time you want to spend converting it), you can try to decrease the batch sizes so the server gets less to do at once. To do so, open install/install_convert.php , and go down to ...

Re: .22 to RC1 with Simple Subforums

I converted using another subforum mod. Some of the forums were placed correctly in their category, but many got completely messed up. The solution was simple: move the forums into the correct categories manually after the conversion was completed ;)

Re: 400,000 posts ... conversion will take hours

In install/install_convert.php , scroll down to around line 60, where the variable $batch_size is set. You can change its value to 6000 or even higher (such as 10K if you believe your server is good enough). You can also increase the value in $num_wait_rows , but remember that increasing either of t...

Re: [Beta] HotEditor WYSIWYG MOD for phpBB3

Firstly, I was wondering if it's possible to implement smilies "live" - so if someone enters :) in the BBCode view - it will automatically be transformed into a smiley on WYSIWYG view - and vice versa. It's quite strange to see [IMG]./images/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif[/IMG] when you click a smiley in ...

Re: Code changes for future versions?

Still no answer, unfortunately :( It would really nice to know whether this will be added when RC2 (or hopefully Gold) will be released - so I don't have to re-add all my own modifications and rewrite my templates over again. I'm sure other people would also appreciate it.

Re: Pre-Modded to 3.0

Try. Your original boards won't be affected if you try to convert to phpBB3. I had a heavily modded forum, and the permissions and forums were completely messed up, but I fixed all 60 categories/forums and re-set the permissions, and promoted the moderators again manually after it was converted. The...

Re: Code changes for future versions?

Is there a script that upgrades the files automatically? I haven't checked out the upgrade script, but a script that upgrade the files automatically seems like nonsense to me. How are template authors and people who mod their forums supposed to upgrade their forums if they don't have the ability to ...

Re: Code changes for future versions?

Still no answer? I expect to see code changes on the "Gold versions" once they get updated, but there have been none on the beta versions and that's why I'm wondering - I really hope it will be included, though, otherwise it would really take a while to upgrade my skins.

Re: 500 server error when I try to convert

This is where I put it. As others mentioned, 40 might be too high, so trying other values such as 20 and 10 might do the job aswell ;) <?php /** * * @package install * @version $Id: install_convert.php,v 1.42 2007/05/16 14:44:30 acydburn Exp $ * @copyright (c) 2006 phpBB Group * @license http://open...

Re: Changelog for future versions?

Sorry for being a little unclear; what I was asking for was the code changes, not "changelog" like the summary of changes that have been made. So basically, I'm wondering if there will be a file with the RC1 to RC2 code changes whenever RC2 is released (hopefully, there won't be a RC2, but I'm afrai...

Code changes for future versions?

Will there be a changelog with all the code changes for the future versions of phpBB 3.0 RC like there is when a new phpBB 2.0.xx version is released? I'm making my own templates based on the phpBB 2 ones, and it would be very helpful to have a changelog every time a new phpBB 3 version is released ...

Re: 500 server error when I try to convert

Yes, I do have many mods. However, I found a fix to this problem: Add this to the top of install/install_convert.php : set_time_limit(40); It actually did the job, the conversion went through successfully. I do not have access to php.ini, and I believe there are many other users who are on a shared ...

Re: 500 server error when I try to convert

These entries seem to have been converted: Banlist - 214/214 Config - 227/256 (probably some useless mods that have some config entries in the old forums) Vote_results/poll_options - 1,222/1,222 vote_poll_voters/poll_votes - 1828/1828 forums - 67/60 - Got more forums for some reason topics - 5,822/5...
