Re: [DEV] Board Rules Extension

Anyone wanting to work on this can feel free to submit Pull Requests. The form of PR we're generally looking for (at the moment) will look like this: https://github.com/phpbb-extensions/boardrules/pull/8 It will: Focus on one specific aspect, e.g. set/get rules_title on the entity. Contain complete ...

Re: General forum information/Events requests

Each template is rendered individually, so that would not work. One thing you could try is using the BLOCK element (from Twig). Core: <!-- BLOCK test --> foo <!-- END BLOCK --> <!-- EVENT test_event --> Extension: <!-- BLOCK test --> bar <!-- END BLOCK --> I'm not sure if this is possible to edit th...

Re: Discuss: Extensions Development Team

What about the fact that functions may change? Like the need for an extra prams that is required? Let say that you added a approved state to a function that creates posts. A report to topic extension may use that function and therefore will break unless updated. Generally we try not to break backwa...

Re: Discuss: Extensions Development Team

Extensions should be relatively compatible between even major releases, unlike modifications were. The only way they would break is if events were altered or removed, which isn't going to happen very often, certainly not without good reason.

That could happen; we've not discussed that so far however.

Re: phpBB Standalone Template Engine

Twig has some really good documentation: http://twig.sensiolabs.org/documentation

The first three parts should cover everything you need to handle this particular task and many more.

Re: phpBB Standalone Template Engine

Why do you want to use phpBB's template engine stand-alone?

There are far better template engines, like Twig, if you're using something independent of phpBB (we actually use Twig in phpBB 3.1).

Re: Questions about hooks

I would start with copying the main query from viewtopic.php, then remove the things that are unnecessary.

Re: Struggling to integrate posts into website

If you could post the code you are currently using for your homepage, that would be really helpful.

Re: Questions about hooks

Everything in viewtopic is global. My guess would be that $user_cache is unset before whichever hook you're using is called. You would either need to modify the core code or change the way your query is setup to not rely on this variable. For example, you could get the topic_id and current page from...
