Re: What is your favorite web development software?

WebPlusX4 looks as easy to use as office powerpoint or presentation. The output code for some of the example sites might not be the cleanest, but they would probably pass XHTML Transitional validation. A few fixes here and there, and they would pass strict. It's just not proper semantics to organize...

Re: vBulletin style for phpBB3

If the biggest reason for desiring to imitate vBulletin is the general structure, then creating a style inspired by that wouldn't be a problem. You just can't use the same colour scheme and graphics from vB. But if you like the way they organize posts or whatever other pages, then taking inspiration...

Re: Reputation | may I suggest to make it built-in with phpB

Hope to see this take a place in the near future, but how to know if there is a major demand for a feature or a request ? Only time will tell. You can expect that a lot of popular MODs will eventually be brought over to 3.1.x at its time of release. (just as we saw going from phpBB2->phpBB3) I woul...

Re: Reputation | may I suggest to make it built-in with phpB

Honestly, I wouldn't worry about it. Feature requests wouldn't get implemented until a new major release (ie: 3.1.x), and suggestions for that release series have been closed for a while now. However you will be in luck cause with 3.1.x, the hook system will make adding a majority of MODs as simple ...

Re: online video ecards

Most video ecards are tailored in someway to the site, so you'll probably have to make your own or purchase them. I just don't think it's very likely that you find a site that offers these ecard flash animations, considering they'd have to be modified in a way to accept input from a variety of softw...

Missed that.

And I wonder if KeyPassX has any relation with KeePass.

Kim_Possible: Best practise, by far. What password manager do you use, if I may ask?

Looks like a Mac Dock app and just a standard widget to me. Something like RK Launcher, RocketDock, etc.

Re: who uses a 50 character password?

At a length of 50 characters though, I wouldn't exactly associate a string made of random chars as being easy to remember. Going back to my original point - I had wondered if it were perhaps something rather trivial such as a specific sequence or order of the keyboard. Having to type this in on boot...

Re: who uses a 50 character password?

Just because it's easy to remember doesn't necessarily mean it's a weak password. I never said the length made it weak. I meant that there had to be some sort of significance for it to be remembered. Length is definitely a huge factor in password strength, although not nearly as big of a contributo...

Re: New Multiforums Software announcing!

I suppose that's not too bad - definitely understandable. It'll be a tough market to get into though. Btw, I think to do this you'll have to sell your software as its own product, completely seperate from phpBB3 and its license. So you'll probably have to be careful on how you handle things.

90% Open Source
I'm curious about this. How do you plan on limiting what site owners can do with your software, and what they can or can't edit? Encode parts using Ioncube or the like? From what I've seen and experienced in the past, encoders cause performance to take a huge hit.

Re: Comparing server directories via FTP

Do you have local copies of those directories? Winmerge could accomplish that if so. Otherwise, do you have access to SSH?

Re: what should i use for a easy website's content managemen

Drupal's pretty great. I'd go for it over Joomla and Mambo. I'd avoid PHP-Nuke too. Typo3 - I think is more of a blogging system, from what I remember. Along those lines, I'd probably opt for Wordpress.
