Is it possible to modify the FAQ?

I would like to add some information to the FAQ that is available at the top of the forum page but cannot seem to find where the text is stored. I did a search on the forum looking for "faq" and was inundated with possible hits. Understandable given the small, common search term. :( I did find a Mod...

Re: Creating site I want to be child friendly

there is no need for someone to create a MOD for this when it would only do what you can do yourself and it would only work on prosilver and maybe subsilver. ... Thanks for your patience. I guess I will just have to go through and make all those changes. I just hope I don't have to "update" the cha...

Re: Creating site I want to be child friendly

Because there are several different style components you need to select one first. What do you mean "select one"? I already mentioned that I wanted to remove all Social Media text boxes. Or do you mean I need to select a single style and only Mod that one? Sorry, I'm greedy. I want it all. Aren't s...

Re: Creating site I want to be child friendly

Then you didn't do it right. Did you refresh the style after making the deletions? OK, you've got me. I just went to the ACP -> Styles and couldn't find a "refresh" option anywhere ... [Added] When I look in my profile, the options are not there. When I look via the Members list, they are. What I'm...

Re: Creating site I want to be child friendly

I did deactivate all but a few. I even forced everyone to use the single style that I had changed but it didn't seem to matter. I could still see the fields in the profiles and we caught a Spammer that had filled in the fields. :(

Maybe I did it wrong, but I don't think I did ...

Yes, I saw that and rejected it. It would require that I remove information from that file for each and every style installed. There has to be an easier way!

Re: Creating site I want to be child friendly

Don't know what you are talking about, this has been in the Support forum for a couple of days. Just goes to show how observant I am doesn't it. Perhaps that's part of the reason I was having so much trouble ... I'm getting too old and too stupid to see much of anything past the end of my own nose ...

Re: Creating site I want to be child friendly

I guess the next order of business is to move this out of the Development and Requests forum and back into someplace more appropriate like the main Support Forum. Next I would appreciate some hand holding. I have created a child, the child has received the COPPA email, and to all intents and purpose...

Re: Creating site I want to be child friendly

you first have to turn coppa on in the registration settings in the admin panel. robert I just tried to register as an under 13 year old and got to the same place I would have if over 13. I then came back and read you post, so rushed back to check. COPPA is turned on in the registration settings in...

Re: Creating site I want to be child friendly

where do you see anything like that ? if you choose the "under 13" box, you will then be able to fill out the registration form. you will have to supply an email address. there will be a notice at the bottom of the page telling you about coppa. ... GREAT! That's not what I've been seeing but perhap...

Re: Creating site I want to be child friendly

OK, I don't really care that this is going to be hard, it has to be done if I want to use this software. I would hope that someone would be willing to help because they can see that, for the good of the software, it will eventually need to be done in any case. Right now you're sending 10 year old Jo...

Re: Creating site I want to be child friendly

PII is Personally Identifiable Information. If we ask a child for "their" email, there is no way of verifying that their parents would actually receive anything. Of course, there is no way we have to verify that we are actually communicating with their parents in any case is there ... With regards t...

This is in each and every style template! I knew there was a reason not to download and install so many!

Thanks for the info. And about Spammers, I think I have them fairly well covered. We've already trampled on our first.

Creating site I want to be child friendly, take 2

I just found out that phpbb forum does not handle COPPA properly. One of my Moderators was testing the system and during the registration process, this is what she found: I just said I was under 13, and was asked for my email. Email is PII and you can't ask kids for PII without permission. You HAVE ...
