Wow.. Somebody figured out the templated bbcode stuff enough to add a custom templated tag. Impressive. :) I don't remember documenting that terribly well.

And yes, admin-definable bbcode seems to be on everybody's wish list for some future version.

Question about 1.4.4

Ivegottheskill wrote: I have a phpBB 1.4.2 board. Is there any real difference between 1.4.2 and 1.4.4, or is it just a few minor stuff? (e.g. security fixes)

Nothing but (important) security fixes, IIRC.

It could probly be done with templates, except for the shortening of long topics... but definitely a simple hack. In fact, you could probly just add a template var that is the same as the topic, except shortened to 20 (and if it was less, it would show the whole thing.) Hmmm. :D Actually, you could...

(i'll check cvs ...) W...

...That's why Linux is thriving - It has a personality, a cause, a "face". People increasingly choose it over windows because microsoft is face less , something easily hateable. The same applies in the portal market, I mean, does PHP-nuke arouse as much passion in the heart of portal users as Linux...

We actually started out with PHPLib for our template system and considered it for our session handling. However, the template system was too slow so we abandoned it. I'd suggest you phpBB-ify your other sites (ie use our template and session code) insted of the other way around :D Damn straight. ph...

Announcements appear at the top of the topic list for every page of topics in the forum.

Stickies appear after announcements, but on the first page only.

That's the fundamental difference.

There's no way you coulda known this, dude... It's due to the murky internals of the bbcode system. :) No, old posts won't screw up. If you edit an old post, and don't change the bbcode over, that'll screw up. And if you quote an old post that contains old-style quote bbcode, and don't change it ove...

Just checked in the fix for this. It's probably not updated here yet, but the way we decided to go was to disallow the " character from usernames, and make the quote= syntax look like: [quote="username"].

Thank you, come again.

[quote=hsim] Me thinks [b]should[/b] prevent spaces, because when posting Code, it can make the whole thing unreadable if [code] is removing spaces. You could take that as a feature request ;) but I'd rather state this as a bug... [/quote] Mm-hmm.. Originally, the template for [code] bbcode used <pr...
