scratch that, I forgot to put the path to php before the path to the script. now i have set it to run: 00 * * * * /usr/local/lib/php /home/dobsonen/public_html/newforum/mail_digests.php I get the error "/usr/local/lib/php is a directory", so it is obviously trying to find a file to run, and realisi...

Good ideas. Setting the extract size though is tricky, particularly if as requested elsewhere I have to convert the BB code. If I cut off a quote tag in the middle this means a lot of logic to get the presentation right in the digest. Minus that a drop down for the extract size per message is quite ...

Alert: I found two bugs in mail_digest.php. Neither seem to be catastrophic errors, but should be fixed: Replace: $last_post_date = ($row3['last_post_date'] == "") ? $row3['last_post_date'] : 0; with: $last_post_date = ($row3['last_post_date'] <> "") ? $row3['last_post_date'] : 0; and: $last_session...

It appears to me that things have now stabilized with this software and that users are reasonably happy. Hearing no objections, I will submit this mod. Thanks to everyone in this topic for your great Beta testing and working through issues with me. Keep posting bugs and suggestions here though. They...

Excellent research guys! I had no idea phpBB did this stuff. As a reward, I've figured out two solutions to the security issue with mail_digests.php. I will add this to digests.zip in batch_instructions.txt. Security Issues Users have pointed out that there is a security issue involved since mail_di...

I can't answer your question. I don't believe there is anything in phpBB that backs up databases. And there are so many kinds of databases out there. Assuming you are using mySQL you can probably create your own script to backup the tables, and via utilities like the PHP mySQL Admin utility you can ...

That was my experience to. HTML tags inside the <body> come through fine, provided it is sent with Content-type: text/html in the header of the email. But styles don't get applied. This is a tradeoff with people using web based email systems. It is possible inline styles could be programmed but for ...

I also have multiple duplicated forum listed on digest.php page. Suggestions: 1. digest.tpl should include code like "class="gen", class="row1"" etc. to be able to use the font type specified in the css file. 2. digest_constant.php should have hardcoded site URL, which eliminates wrong links proble...

Re: Was looking at the digest_constants.php file

Where you define the siteURL seems very specific to the type of calls (it didn't work for me in Linux.) Could you instead modify it to use a similar model to the privmsg.php file as such? $script_name = preg_replace('/^\/?(.*?)\/?$/', "\\1", trim($board_config['script_path'])); $server_name = trim(...

Re: Digests

cisiodon wrote: $to = $row['user_email']";

Please correct:

No " at the end !

Use: $to = $row['user_email'];

Mike

Right. A little typo on my part. Will correct original message.

It looks like it's working on my board. Such an exciting feature!!! But I have a couple of things that need to take care of: 1. How can I change the text class used in the digest.php page? Right now the font is too small, and I would like to change it to another type of font defined in the css file...

All this is installed on Windows for my setup, so i'm using a real live external SMTP server. Ummm, isn't sendmail a SMTP server? Or does PHP use it differently when its running locally? I use the emailer class, or rather I've subtly rewritten the emailer class as digest_emailer.php. Anyhow, there ...

Re: This is great!

Awesome fix. May need to feedback to the phpBB community to add that variability to the emailer class going forward, but nice fix for now. Here's my most current problem. The $siteURL is not working correctly. all the links my digest sends out are of the sorts: <a href="http:///viewforum.php?f=1"> ...
