Re: Redirect new users to a "Beginners Welcome" topic

Would there be a way that existing registered users could get pointed to a thread in the same way ? Sometimes I need members to read important announcements and this would get 100% of users logging in to read it rather than the normal 5% that can be bothered to read announcements. Thanks for the fe...

Re: [EVENT] [Discuss] Appsterdam phpBB Hackathon

Sounds like everyone had a good time and the blog posts suggest that plenty was done as well! Couldn't get over unfortunately due to work commitments but hopefully will be able to attend the next one.

Re: "Content" module?

Nuke PHP creates its pages and stores all of that data in the database. Can I do this with phpBB3? You can, but you will need some sort of modification to be able to do it, unless you use a content management system with a bridge to phpBB. Then, the CMS does all the hard work of generating the page...

Re: Share members, sessions, bans on two boards

I agree with you, I think it should be clearer that the article is out of date and doesn't relate to phpBB3. I'll bring this up in the bug tracker and see if we can improve the user experience for people who may do the same thing as you.

Re: [RC] Restrict Registration Email Domain

Isn't this already written into standard phpBB under User Security? i.e. you could ban all emails '*@*' then unban the domain(s) '*@yourdomain.com' that you wanted to allow? Not entirely sure the banlist works like that? Would have to test and find out. Regardless some may find it useful to have an...

Re: Share members, sessions, bans on two boards

That article relates to phpBB2 so will not work with phpBB3 - the table structure is entirely different.

It still is possible to do this although it will be a little more involved to join the two boards together. See this topic for more information.

Re: [RC] Convert internal URLs into their titles

The MODX file doesn't render correctly with IE9, almost like it can't pick up the .xsl file. Have tested it with Firefox and it works fine so must be something amiss with the construction of the MODX file that IE is being picky about.

Haven't tested with AutoMOD.

Re: "Content" module?

It sounds like you would be better off with a CMS (Drupal, Joomla!, WordPress etc.) and linking it to your phpBB installation, this way you get the benefits of both worlds; a genuine content management system for your site and a full board instead of the slimmed down "forum modules" that s...

Re: add disclaimer - can someone rerelease this?

If you can post a copy of the install files someone may be interested in taking it on; may even take it on myself!

EDIT: Had a quick search, the MOD is available here.

Personal taste but I would update the MOD to allow board administrators to customise the text of the disclaimer via the ACP.

Re: Illegal string offset 'realname'

I can't reproduce this error.

Clean install of phpBB 3.0.11 with AutoMOD 1.0.0.1 and mChat 1.3.5, writing the files directly on both Windows and Linux.

Everything installs fine, can access the details panel without any errors or problems before and after the installation.

What about Topics only visible to OP? It is marked as abandoned but I have used it in the past and it seems to work quite well.

Re: Illegal string offset 'realname'

Is this a problem with AutoMOD or the MODX files themselves? Could someone provide a link to a MODX file that throws up this error?

Re: Automod isnt actually writing files

Have you tried using another method? If you download the files, have they been edited correctly?

Normally this sort of problem ends up being a permissions issue, the most compatible method is to download the changes that AutoMOD makes and then upload the new files, replacing your old files.
