Re: Vehicle MOT Reminder

This might actually be useful for a board I'm thinking about starting at the moment. Will try and find some time to put it together soon.

Where would you like the notifications to appear, in a similar box to the birthdays? Perhaps a notification via PM/email if selected by the user as well?

Re: [Discuss] Introducing Forumatic - Managed phpBB Hosting

Right now, there isn't file access. My understanding is that there will never be file access, it's designed as a solution that means you don't have to worry about files. I'm 99.99% sure that all boards are run using one set of files so extensions (when they finally arrive), custom CSS/HTML headers ...

Re: The Best Thing that phpBB Can Do: Merge

phpBB is ran by volunteers. Release dates simply wouldn't work. I get really bored when I hear this. Release timelines seem to work for other volunteer based projects , and it can and should be assumed that each volunteer can contribute X hours per week/month as an average meaning that you should b...

Re: [Discuss] Introducing Forumatic - Managed phpBB Hosting

I agree with you that B2B is a good place to go with something like this, however, as a start-up in this field, I personally would go this route first. Since the end product is very similar, aside from support, running with this first for at the very minimum of a few months or a year to get the iss...

Re: [Discuss] Introducing Forumatic - Managed phpBB Hosting

I think the phpBB community will benefit from this. Getting income to hire a full-time developer (or maybe multiple full-time developers) will speed up the overall development of phpBB. Let's just say you can find developers willing to work on phpBB full time for the low price of $40,000 USD a year...

Re: Why there isnt atleast beta version of 3.1??

I wouldn't model things on the way Wordpress.com/org do things, it's more a source of confusion than anything else. For instance you frequently get users on Wordpress.org asking why a specific shortcode doesn't work, or some other feature which is actually a .com feature and either a plugin or unav...

Re: [Discuss] Introducing Forumatic - Managed phpBB Hosting

Anyway, not the slightest bit interested in your business ventures. Why isn't phpBB promoting other forum hosting platforms like Forumotion? Forumatic, Forumotion. Very similar names, going to both sites I wouldn't know that one was run by a company unrelated to the software it offers and the other...

Re: Why there isnt atleast beta version of 3.1??

Thanks for the clarification Yuriy. If Forumatic is to phpBB is what Automattic is to WordPress there shouldn't be any problems and it should actually progress the project forward as you say. Without getting too much involved in the business case of the idea (and I'm sure you've done the market rese...

Re: Why there isnt atleast beta version of 3.1??

I would like to know this as well since it appears to be a separate business that Nils and Yuriy are running and has no relationship to phpBB Ltd. If it is under the phpBB Ltd umbrella then why isn't that obvious? I think that's the main point, is Forumatic an official branch of the project? If it ...

Re: Why there isnt atleast beta version of 3.1??

Say when 3.1 does get released and new features are added, does this mean that Forumatic will get the new features before they are released into phpBB as a downloadable package that the average user can install? I'm interested in the relationship between Forumatic and the phpBB software, will we all...

Re: Why there isnt atleast beta version of 3.1??

3.1 is currently still lacking migrations (for updating the database and to replace UMIL), template events (to allow changing of the template while being editless) and an extensions admin (to manage extensions). All of which are nearing completion. These are all blocking 3.1 but it doesn't mean 3.1...

Why there isnt atleast beta version of 3.1??

Interesting that Forumatic appears to be running 3.1-dev, but 3.1 isn't considered stable enough to provide a beta publically? I'd be a bit concerned at that statement if I was a paying customer over at Forumatic.
