BBC website and Prosilver

The BBC news website has had a makeover in the past couple of days: http://news.bbc.co.uk/ Is it just me or does anyone else think that there are some design cues in there that are similar to Prosilver? I'm thinking particularly of the navbar on the left and the overall 'feel' of the text. The body ...

Re: So, April Fools forum pranks

I played quite a naughty April Fools trick on my users yesterday. ;) I used a special mod which substitutes the reader's name every time the expression "[you]" appears in a post. So if I was reading a post that had "[you] smells", it would be displayed to me as "DBM smells" etc. I then created a new...

Re: Countdown Coding

Try this - http://www.artdhtml.com/free/clocks_div.php Little bit of CSS and it should look not bad ;) Thanks, I was looking for something similar for my board. I'd like to be able to get it to show on a specific forum only rather than the index page, is there a way of doing that? Also, I note that...

tuannq, I have this up and running on my forum and it's working perfectly. It was one of the easiest mods I've had to install too. Excellent work. 8-)

Anyone know of a way to add a sidebar to the index page only?

Thanks.

Re: Alignment within navbar

No takers on this?

OK, could someone suggest a couple of CSS forums that might be able to help me with this?

Thanks.

Alignment within navbar

I'm trying out a Flash news ticker applet inside the navbar on my test site at http://www.gladtalk.co.uk/bogus/

It's almost there but the alignment isn't quite right and I lack the CSS know-how to get it right. Can anyone please tell me how I get it properly centred?

Thanks.

Merging multiple topics

I have an "introduce yourself" subforum on my board but would now prefer to merge all of those topics into one single thread. Since that's 231 topics, it would take an awful long time doing it through the board controls.

Can anyone suggest a MySQL query I could use?

Would be very, very grateful if you could do it, Neo, I get so many users moaning about not having it on the new board. :(

Re: Text over image

I'm having the same problem on an unmodified test board which I've just updated from RC5 to Gold. I used the RC7-to-Gold database update and have replaced the old files with new 3.0.0 files. Like Humbe, I've tried clearing the cache, replacing the files etc to no avail. My live board is RC5 as well ...

Upgrade path from RC4

I have a live forum that is currently running on RC4. Yes, I know, I should be keeping up with the updates, but I've not had much time to spend on board stuff in the past few months and I've got behind. Having seen the problems some people have had with the RC6/7 upgrades, I'd rather just delete the...

Re: [2.0.15] Latest active topics on index

Hi googlah and vetim_ch, I understand that the author of this mod stopped supporting it a year or so ago. :(

That is a great pity, as it was a feature that a number of my users liked on my old phpbb2 board and nobody seems willing to create a phpbb3 version yet. :(

Re: [Beta] recent topics 0.0.2

Nick, any chance of adding a scrolling marquee as on the old "last topics on index" mod?

There's an example here.

I had that mod on my 2.0.22 board and lots of my present users miss it. Also, you could set the number of topics in the ACP.

Re: Global announcements invisible to ordinary users

Well...set_url() does not appear in the phpBB core code at all. Which puts us back at a mistake in installing a MOD somewhere -- perhaps you did not re-copy a file included with one of your MODs. That function call does indeed come from a MOD. But as I say, I copied the exact set of files which wer...

Re: Global announcements invisible to ordinary users

AJD, I retried it and I think I didn't paste it in right the first time.

However, I now get Fatal error: Call to undefined function: set_url() in /public_html/forum/viewtopic.php on line 299
