Look at all the people who ignore fine print. Now just how effective would a subliminal message be after all?

I was only describing the weird name, XS as in Excess. I don't know whether it actually has too many mods or not. Just wondering what does it have an "excess" of to use the name phpBBXS.

I don't recall ever even coming across a phpBBXS forum (except the time when Geocator linked to the main site one time).

Is the name supposed to mean phpBB Excess? Like way too many mods or something?

Sourcing may be a factor. Any Tom, Dick, and Harry could put together his own Linux, while only Microsoft would usually make a Windows.

Of course there are several good Linuxes, but it is hard to find them due to the sheer number of Linuxes out there.

Somehow I don't believe a mouse click has any legal weight (like a written signature would).

The phpBB group

Aside from the people listed on http://www.phpbb.com/about.php , who are the members of the phpBB Group?

If we're freaking out about something as minor as WGA, imagine how ripping mad we'd get if Microsoft actually had a Big Brother system.

Microsoft (and all software companies for that matter) needs to know that trying stuff like this is like walking on thin ice.

1. Minority benefits, majority suffers (even if only a little). 2. In the Internet era of computing, the very notion of copy-protection itself is something that is f earsome, u ncertain, and d oubtful. Privacy and personal responsibility are at stake here, two crucial human values. If it weren't for...

Sure. And anti-virus measures should ONLY affect virus writers. Everybody else should NEVER EVER have to tolerate any sort of anti-virus measures. But anti-virus systems help people. Copy-protection schemes only help the software companies. I don't remember anybody ever wanting to either have a vir...

phpBB allows it, but then if they need help, phpBB don't want to help them.

And if this were to happen you'd expect people to just got to Mall B, and never whine and complain about Mall A again. Such is the case here, where Microsoft is Mall A, and Ubuntu (for example) is Mall B Oh if it were only that easy... So Microsoft actually physically entering your space to enforce...
