Well, did you consider following the error message's instructions, and contacting the server admin? The key to fixing whatever it is will be in the server's logs... and no one without access to them can do more than guess at the problem.

Your system doesn't have the "MS SQL Server 7/2000" in the install? Just because Microsoft slaps a new label on the package every 6 months doesn't mean the interface stops working....

Re: Register help

Two things, I Have posted before about the image not showing for my register page. Any help on resolving that would be great. Second, I would like to change the information the users must supply to register. Any help would be great On the first point, sticking to a single topic is better for gettin...

Did you restart the web server after changing the php.ini file? Did you make sure that the DLL needed was moved out of the ext/ directory, and into the one where php.exe is found?

What version are you running? Version 2.0.20 and later have a "search flood interval" that you can set, which defaults to 30 seconds, I believe. You can also make the search only accessible to members. Code to do this is posted in one of the several Anti-Spam topics here. Also, for several...

You can not do it without a MOD. There is at least one "user admin" MOD out there that will take a list and create users from it. A search of the MOD database here (Mods link above) or over on phpbbhacks.com should net you a few candidates.

If you have phpmyadmin, you can directly repair the damaged table. Otherwise, a search for "1016" on this forum will reveal this topic, which contains a script to do the repair.

phpBB 2.x is "feature frozen". Only security updates are being done. Version 3.x is still in beta test, but it does have better visual confirmation code, from what I have seen. Any anti-spam stuff, though, is done via MODs, in part because you can pick and chose which ones are appropriate ...

I've been warned not to say the VC that comes with phpBB doesn't work, but in my experience it's totally ineffective. Your experience supports that. Less effective is more exact than "totally ineffective". No confirmation scheme is 100%, and the v2.0.x phpBB VC image is not too difficult ...

Anyone who thinks you can block the spammers WITHOUT making changes is deluded. Take the advice of someone who deals with email spam on a daily basis -the spammers are highly adaptable, and anything put in place today will have a workaround within a few weeks, if it seriously impacts their ability t...

It is NOT RECOMMENDED to disable the hashing of passwords in phpBB. One guy came out with a MOD to do that a few months back, because he "needed" to be able to read people's passwords. That was just before someone got in through one of the holes he'd added through other MODs, and dumped hi...

And after you restore your admin status, delete the "trusted" staff accounts. Let them rejoin the board as non-admin users if they want, but you can not trust them with the keys to the kingdom. And no, I do not suggest warning them about it.

If you want no one to be accountable to, you can not find web hosting, because anyone with a commercial interest in internet will NOT allow you to do "anything" you want. There are a number of off-shore places that will, for a while, but most are encountering increased problems. Even if yo...
