Storing graphics in the db is a real bad behaviour. It should be avoided at all.

It's quite simple. I'm using my own portal API which is made of different modules. I am overriding the authentication module in order to use phpBB2's authentication functions and that's all. All the pages in the portal are using Smarty templates, while phpBB2 is using its own engine, but it does not...

I'm going to work with phpBB2 authorization and PEAR's db abstraction layer and Smarty for my own templates. That's the mix I actually prefer 8)

I guessed you were using that template. I don't know the actual code to put in the template for the other stats, but you can take a look at the subBlue theme that you can find in the CVS.

What's weird is that it's remembering it for a pair of days, and then I have to log back on from scratch.

I'm not experiencing similar problems on other sites.

Leave the main forum as is. phpBB2 isn't yet finished. There's no reason in letting the users see this version if they cannot use it for production.

You can do it, as long as you modify phpBB a little.
The out-of-the-box version isn't supporting what you're trying to do.
But if you know a bit of PHP it would be easy to add the capability you're looking for.

Jeff, maybe it would be better if you explain a bit more what kind of work are you going to do in order to attract some php coders.

The DB schema has changed since beta 1, so you have to update your database by hand if you want to run the latest CVS version.

Take a look at the new schema and update yours to match the new one.
