Re: keep unread flags

What does "It also activates the new post feature for guests" mean?

I'm not after any new features, I just want the "read" flag to mark posts which I have actually read.

Re: Why are unread threads marked read that I didn't even read?

http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=309059 Oy, that seems horribly over-complicated. It adds an icon for some new function, and seems to do things I don't want or need. I really just want the "read" flag to work the way it should - show what's been read and what hasn't. Is ther...

What is the MOD's name?

I've found the phpBB 2 default arrangement to be essentially useless; it sounds like the MOD might help.

Re: truncation of displayed post titles

I'm not sure about this one, so don't quote me, but did you use any special characters in those titles? If yes, the script could have some different results on lenght of the string and in some cases, truncate it too "early" :) No, no special characters, just the normal 26 letters. No punc...

Re: truncation of displayed post titles

Default in a stock phpbb install is 60 chars for the subject line. If yours is 50, might want to ask yourself who changed it.... The database is still set to the default - varchar(60) . But posted titles were still truncated to 50 characters. The "subject" text box put up by posting.php w...

Re: truncation of displayed post titles

the only way for this to have happened is if someone edited either the tpl file or the database. The template is aqua , which has a few loose ends and apparently isn't being actively supported. I found that templates/aqua/posting_body.tpl sets the 60 character length of the "subject" text...

truncation of displayed post titles

When a poster types in a message, the "subject" text entry box will accept 60 characters. However, when posted, the "subject" is truncated to 50 characters. Where is this controlled? I would like all characters a poster types in to be displayed, whether it's 50 or 60, so that WYS...

what might make a sig not appear?

One of my members PMed me that he'd added a simple text sig but it wouldn't appear at the bottom of his post. I looked at his profile and all the settings looked OK - he has a nice simple text sig and has checked the "Always attach my signature:" button. To test this, I added a sig to my o...

users set posts per page

Is there a mod which will let users set the number of posts they see when they view a page? The admin control panel can set posts per page for everyone, with a default of 15, but some of my users like to see more posts on fewer pages. I seem to remember seeing such a mod at one time, but I can't fin...

Re: User hide signatures

This seems to be working just great. I found one peculiarity in the instructions - #-----[ OPEN ]------------------------------------------ # language/lang_english/lang_main.php # #-----[ FIND ]------------------------------------------ # $lang['Always_add_sig'] # #-----[ AFTER, ADD ]---------------...

Browse to your_forum/contrib/dbinformer.php to run it.
Does a standard install of phpBB 2 have a contrib folder?

Neither of mine seem to have such a thing.

Re: is the Aqua template being supported anywhere?

The Aqua template is not a validated style released by the phpBB.com Styles Team, That's peculiar. It was in that long list of style demos which was, before the site redesign here, easily found in the styles section. It is now at http://www.phpbb-design.com/phpBB2_styles_demo/ There was nothing the...

is the Aqua template being supported anywhere?

I found a problem with index_body.tpl, which starts a table <table width="90%" align="center" cellpadding="1" cellspacing="1" border="0" class="forumline"> but never closes it. The final html page made by index.php has the same error, a dan...

Re: [04/02/07] Instant Post Redirect

What a strange MOD. There's a big red note on the install.xml page, saying that it isn't recommended that it be installed on a live forum. Do many users have non-live forums? I run two forums, both live. Is this mod ready for use on them? I can't think of any use for a non-live forum. The install pa...
