Re: [2.0.20] Avatars in Memberlist

What is the function of this line - <td class="catBottom" colspan="{%:1}" height="28">&nbsp;</td> I have 2.0.22 installed. My subSilver template has that line like so - <td class="catBottom" colspan="8" height="28">&nbsp;</td> I thi...

Re: profile page mods

The information I want to take out is in /templates/templatename/profile_add_body.tpl . If I comment out certain sections (between <tr> and </tr> tags) they don't appear on the page, so users can't fiddle with them. However, they still show on the User Adminstration page, so I can still fiddle with ...

What is a .mod file?

I was looking at a mod, and the zipped package consists basically of a text file containing no useful information, and a *.mod file, users_set_posts_topics.mod . Normally I expect a mod package to be a text file with instructions about which *php, *.ini, or *.tpl files to modify. This mod has no suc...

Re: unread posts show as read

Is there someplace which says what a forum page is trying to tell a user? I'm using a modified Aqua template on two different forums. When looking at a page full of post headings, some are in black, some are in blue. There's no key anywhere on the page telling users what those two colors signify. Th...

Re: moving single posts?

if you have damaging or disruptive posts, remove them completely and warn the posters not to break your rules or they will be removed. remember, you do not have to put up with nonsense, it is your board, your rules....enforce them. No can do, for political reasons - my forum is a recent splitoff fr...

Excellent, just what I needed. I had no idea that feature was there, even after searching through the user guide. Thanks.

moving single posts?

Is there any way to move a single post to another forum? I can see how a moderator could move an entire thread, but I want to move individual posts, not threads. The idea is that I'd like to move disruptive or possible trolling posts to a special forum, where members can reply or not without damagin...

profile page mods

In a default install, users can fiddle with these settings on their profile pages - Hide your online status: Always allow BBCode: Always allow HTML: Always enable Smilies: I'd like to remove these from user control (particularly online status). If I comment out a few lines in profile_add_body.tpl I ...

unread posts show as read

I have two 2.0.22 forums running, and I have the same problem with both. When I look at a forum and see that there are a bunch of posts I haven't read, then leave that forum without reading them, when I come back the unread posts usually no longer show as unread. This happens at forum level too. A f...

Re: Disable Post Editing After X Hours

I think I have this installed ... two problems though. 1. posters can't edit their posts at all - no edit icon shows up. Admin can edit. The edit and delete icons show up just fine when I'm logged in as the admin. 2. nothing new appeared on the General Admin > Configuration page. I was expecting som...

Re: Disable Post Editing After X Hours

Yes, run that query in PHPMyAdmin or something similar. I have phpMyAdmin but haven't the slightest idea how to do this. Is there a discussion of this or a tutorial somewhere? There's a tutorial of sorts in the Mods in Development forum, but it's locked, the images are gone, and the links are dead,...

how to add underlines to links?

Most phpBB templates seem to have links with no underlines, so that the user can only see that they are indeed links by doing a mouseover. This is not the way my forum members are accustomed to using HTML web pages. How can I edit a template to put the underlines in, so that my forum pages look more...

Great, just what I was looking for.

Unfortunately I have trouble finding mods on this new site. I just don't seem to see eye-to-eye with the mod database.

Very easy, and it works.

turning off avatar reading for guests

Is there way to prevent non-members from seeing the member's avatars?

It would basically be a permission setting for avatars. Setting "read" permission to "REG" would be more than I want. I'd like visitors to be able to read posts but not see avatars.
