Re "Active Members Only" mod, used with phpBB v. 2.21 - I have made the changes to memberlist.php and functions.php. Now whether I'm logged in or not, it seems to work - non-active members don't show up on the first page as the "newest registered user", nor do they show up in the...

User Upload Toolkit trouble

The PHPBB User Upload ToolKit v0.3 , available from Starfoxtj, works fairly well, but seems to be unsupported - at least I've seen no signs of life from Starfoxtj lately. So I am trying to improve it myself, even though I don't yet know flip about php. One problem is that after uploading a file, thi...

I've found these two sites useful - http://www.siteprocentral.com/html_color_code.html http://drpeterjones.com/colorcalc/ They're particularly good when I have to find the hex codes for very odd colors, though they're not quite as simple to use as the standard color wheel, such as this one - http://...

The host isn't a free forum, it's a real reseller account which I pay for. It even has some tech support. I have access to whm and cPanel and things like phpMyAdministration. Since it has Fantastico, I used that to install the forum. Not surprisingly Fantastico installed an obsolete verison of phpBB...

That isn't the real password, I posted a very similar one to the real one for illustrative purposes. But where did that password come from? I didn't put it there, it's not a password I entered anywhere. Does it match something in the database? If so, the old password from the old config.php (the one...

Config.php doesn't have much in it. <?php $dbms = 'mysql' ; $dbhost = 'localhost' ; $dbname = 'nemo_phpb1' ; $dbuser = 'nemo_phpb1' ; $dbpasswd = 'wv3wtrchtez6' ; $table_prefix = 'phpbb_' ; define ( 'PHPBB_INSTALLED' , TRUE ) ; ?> dbname and dbuser are the same in the two installations. The hashed p...

moving a phpBB forum - big trouble

I am trying to move a forum from an unreliable host to a (maybe) more reliable one. The two hosting accounts are similar - both cPanel, whm, etc. If I do a new installation via Fantastico I get a new database, which is not what I want - I want my old messages, member list, etc. Via cPanel I made a b...

Users booted out and have to login again to post?

One of my users just e-mailed me about a problem he's having with my un-modded 2.0.21 board - "Please advise me as to what you think I am doing wrong. Each time I try, from my home computer, to reply or post a new question, comment I get booted out and must log in again. Even selecting the prev...

Why is that? I've installed several phpBB boards, from ver.2.0.17 to 2.0.20, and all went without a hitch. It's worked fine when installing other (non-phpBB) boards, too.

You don't have to specify both height AND width. Any reasonably modern browser should be able to scale the height properly if you set the width to whatever you want.

Yes, that's a humor site. Follow some of the links, like "Soviet" - all joke stuff. Not particularly funny, but not meant to be taken seriously.

Whoa! Very simple, no need to get extravagant. I had to deal with the exact same situation - my host's Fantastico installed 2.0.20, and after login as Admin I was immediately nagged to update to 2.0.21. Just treat it as a straightforward upgrade - follow the instructions on the linked page (that's &...

Re: users can't log in

you don't have to go through all that. just look up his name in the user management section of the admin panel, scroll down to the bottom and there is a check box to make him active if he is not. OK. I clicked the "user is active" button "yes". I don't think I can test it, thoug...
