Hey, thanks so much! I grabbed your "display newest active registered member" part (versus newest registered member). I was looking for it -- and it hit the spot (I had actually stripped the link to the profile, I was so fed up with the crap). Have some other things I need to mess with but this help...

Sounds great! Would be nice to have a separate word replace list. Some words you don't care if people talk about on your forum. You just don't want them advertised via the profile. By the way, I am having a hell of a time getting logged in using Opera (an older version). Had to switch to Firefox. Ke...

There are a couple great tips for stopping bots from registering posted by other people on the forum. The bots identify a forum and send registration info. If you change the word in the registration page from "agree" to "iagreeyes" or "agremt" or anything your heart desires, it is no longer automati...

Forum Hackers -- Primarily False Admins?

Got an old board with many integral safety features. Knowing how boards get compromised would help me figure out if it's really worth upgrading (this would be a real pain because of the database changes) or not necessary for my crippled board (admin area has almost all functions removed). Most of th...

Reset Last Visit without using phpmyadmin or being logged in

I have a crappy connection that keeps dropping out. I need to be able to reset my last visit time (and my session time?) so I can get back to where I was (kind of) when I get dropped. I think I'd use this: UPDATE `phpbb_users` SET `user_session_time` = 'xxxxxxxxxx', `user_lastvisit` = 'yyyyyyyyyy' W...

Post index.php
Lots of text editors will display lines if you select that option. You can find line 283 using a text editor. Perhaps one of your hacks was not completed.

I got this three times on the main page and couldn't even pull up your Faq (a few lines showed and then the error line): Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in e:\domains\p\performers-world.com\user\htdocs\forum\cache\tpl_subSilver.overall_header.php on line 283 I don't know w...

Thanks for looking. I was afraid it might not be compatible. That means I still need an easier method of replacing the user_lastvisit time so I could get my unread topics back if they were accidentally lost (browser crash, accidental closing, etc.). It dawned on me that another thing I could do is a...

Does anyone have the next_prev_topic_titles mod installed and working with the keep unread flags mod? Or do these selectively saved topics not work with the navagation links in this mod?

If anyone has installed the next_prev_topic_titles mod and has it working with the "keep unread flag" mod, it would be helpful to know -- rather than going through all the work to modify it and finding it doesn't work (I have a bunch of hacks and modifications). I read through the whole updated "kee...

Reset Last Visit Time (so unread topics can be seen again)

Once and a while a browser is accidentally closed -- or you want to just stop by for a look-see without losing your unread topics list. I've manually edited the user_lastvisit and user_session_time using phpmyadmin but this is pretty clunky and my fave browser crashes frequently (opera) when using p...

Hey, another way to approach the loss of a session (so the posts are marked unread) would be to allow users to reset their current_time and user_session_time -- say in their profile. All their already viewed posts would be marked unread but at least they'd know where they started. I added a next_pre...

I was describing something that happens to happen on my board. It also happens here. Has to be a function of how posting is structured. Since it appears to be a function of the design of the phpBB I was hoping someone much more familiar with phpBB coding than I am could look at it. Now that I think ...
