Re: Please help - I just want a board that works!

fantastico... i'd definately start over. firstly, because if you just download the latest version from this site and install it, you don't have to go through the hassle of upgrading through the difference and fixing any problems that result from it. secondly, fantastico, and other auto installers, a...

Re: Getiing HTML in posts

Have a look in the Custom BBCode sticky in this forum IIRC there is a tables example there or simply ask it and we'll be able to help you setting that up. with just a little bit of searching, here's a set of table bbcodes. http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=1542485&p=9230195&hilit=...

Re: Spam guide

You need to do the php file edits to prevent the answer from being given away see this post for which file to edit and what to change, http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=1101105#p6656595 and this post for how to set the visibility of the profile field, http://www.phpbb.com/communit...

Re: Custom BBCodes

nixxie1981, is there anything in that code that changes? if not, i think it's still possible to make a static bbcode by using something like "[mysig][/mysig]", and entering that code as the html replacement. if that doesn't work, you can always pick a word out of the text and use a text or simpletex...

Re: Please help - I just want a board that works!

1. for installing mods, there are a couple of articles in the support->knowledge base that should help you with the install instructions. Knowledge Base - How to Install MODs Knowledge Base - How to install a MODX Modification 2. if you can't get into the acp to purge the cache, go through your ftp ...

Re: HELP! I am locked out of my own forum!

macgos, the board not running with the install folder present is a security feature, as the install folder is suppossed to be deleted once the board is installed. steve, taking a quick look at macgos' site, i noticed that the login button on both the index and ucp pages points to ./search.php instea...

Re: Controlling Forum Appearance

you will need to edit your phpbb style's header and footer files, and possibly some of the css files. here's a couple of integration threads that should help you get started. there's a ton of stuff in the second link, so that's where i'd suggest searching and asking for help with making your customi...

Re: Preventing Spam in 3.0 [*Read First Post*]

Yes, that would reverse the meaning of "Option equal to non entered value" so it becomes the one correct answer instead of the value for a non-entry. Even with this change, the dropdown box might not be as effective as some of the other types because a dropdown box has only a finite number of optio...

Re: Preventing Spam in 3.0 [*Read First Post*]

You're right that with the "Dropdown box" field, all you can do is specify one possibility (usually the default) as the WRONG answer, and any other answer will be accepted. I pointed out in my earlier post at http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?p=8935075#p8935075 that this is probably too ...

Re: Custom BBCodes

having no experience with VB, I can't say. there's probably something in the coding to detect the language of the post. Mod Requests would be the best place to ask for something that will work automatically and outside of using bbcodes, which could save you having to edit all of your existing posts....

Re: Custom BBCodes

Sorry I can't understand what this echoing does. Thx the echoing is suppossed to post all text between the bbcode twice. once LtR, once RtL. ex: post text: [echo]THIS IS SOME TEXT.[/echo] result: (RtL) .TXET EMOS SI SIHT (LtR) THIS IS SOME TEXT. unfortunately, you may have to edit all of your posts...

Re: Custom BBCodes

Oh no ! It reverses all English text ! For example THIS becomes SIHT while rtl language text is displayed correctly ! Is there a way to correct this ? is "SIHT" part of the text that is posted for rtl readers? if it is, i don't know if changing the text's direction by language is possible with bbco...

Re: ltr-rtl Direction

You can use : <bdo dir="ltr">{TEXT}</bdo> the ltr means reading L eft T o R ight <bdo dir="rtl">{TEXT}</bdo> the rtl means reading R ight T o L eft Source w3schools ;) It does not work And when I want to add it to my bbcode list it says : Your BBCode is constructed in an invalid form. how are you e...

Re: "VIEW NEW POST "

ok, i solved the problem posted above... now what i want to do is to use • instead of icons in navigation bar. for example these two lines. <li class="icon-faq"><a href="{U_FAQ}" title="{L_FAQ_EXPLAIN}">{L_FAQ}</a></li> <li class="icon-faq"><a href="http://www.link.com/" title="Rules">Rules</a...
