phpBB as a Blog?

I was thinking of revamping and beginning to use my one of my websites that has been mistreted for some time now. I wanted a more blog oriented approach. I currently have the site loaded with Drupal. I was thinking of replacing it with phpBB. However, I wanted it to not necessarily be a forum-based ...

Re: How To Use SSL IN phpBB

I was looking at this also. I've just purchased SSL for my newest forum. I plan to also implement on my almost ten-year-old forum. I really only want it for two reasons. First, I want it on the login page. Though extremely remote, someone could have wireshark or some other sniffer and want to cause ...

I just saw this. What a cool idea for a mod.

Any takers? I noticed this thread is almost a year old.

Styles Validated for 3.0.7??

I was creating a new board and downloaded a few styles. I found out that 3.0.7 has the Anti-spam user question built-in. However, the styles I've downloaded apparently haven't added this yet.

How can I tell which styles have been updated?

viewtopic.php causing SQL Connection Errors?

Using Google For Search Engine

I'm continually having the "unable to search at this time" message. I noticed that PHPbb uses Google as the search engine.

I've searched and cannot find how this is done.

Any mods?

Re: Cannot Use Search At This Time

Okay, I just set the "search page system load limit" to 20 and the cache to 180 from 1800. I can search.

Odd.

Re: Cannot Use Search At This Time

Not that I'm aware of...

Enable Search == Yes
User Search Flood Interval == 10 seconds
Guest Search Flood Interval == 0 seconds
Search page system load limit == 15

...it all seems normal.

Re: Anti-Bot Question

I have a weird issue. I had installed the anti-bot question under 3.0.4 and have been running it successfully for several months. I had since upgraded to 3.0.5. This week, i got an email from a potential user who can't register because she wasn't able to pass the registration screen without entering...

Anti-SPAM Question

I just recently upgraded my website from 2.x to 3.0.4 and all is fine. I realized, however, that one of my spam bot mods I had in 2.x is missing. I hadn't installed it. This is the one where the registrant is asked a simple question - type "play" - for example. I did a search and couldn't find it. I...

Re: How to Convert 2.0.x to 3.0.x?

Thank you, Kevin. I hadn't found that particular page yet. Now for the $64,000 question, that I'm still a bit fuzzy on. Can I copy the 3.x files over the 2.x files or do I need to have them in a separate directory? For example, on my laptop, I have /srv/www/htdocs/MyCoolPHPbbSite Do I need to create...

How to Convert 2.0.x to 3.0.x?

I have a smallish, but active, forum. I have 29,000 posts, roughly 5,000 users and a 49 MB database. I'd like to convert from phpbb2 to phpbb3. I looked at the forum and the documentation, and don't see exactly the answer to my question. Do I just drop the 3.0 install files over the 2.0 files and th...
