Re: Big problem with PM system

Actually you could have reset their password in the ACP and logged into their accounts and deleted the PMs that way. More work and trouble but you should NEVER EVER directly modify data in the database unless you are an expert. Thank you, pentapenguin. You've just proven my point from about 2 weeks...

Re: (Bug) Can't have 2 quotes in one post?

Nobody has any ideas? I tend to quote people a lot on my board, and it is annoying when the second quote shows up with the BB code tags. Should I just submit this to the bug tracker? Nobody has any ideas? I tend to quote people a lot on my board, and it is annoying when the second quote shows up wi...

Re: Backup file name

The phpBB is creating dump file of your database if you are speaking about the integrated backup function. Yes, I know that. That wasn't my question. Also you may use the Internal restore function to restore the database. Not if the file is on my own computer. In V2, you could browse for the file o...

Backup file name

Sorry if this has been mentioned before, I can't recall seeing it and I didn't find it by searching. What is the meaning of the awful filename that V3 gives to the backup? It's clearly some encoding of the timestamp, and the restore screen can tell you the timestamp (for backups kept on the server) ...

Re: Windows Live Messanger/MSN Messanger

As it turns out, it's a bug, it's already been reported and fixed (I was running RC5). http://www.phpbb.com/bugs/phpbb3/ticket.php?ticket_id=14508 But notice the following, from the bug ticket note that under windows vista this is not working (vista does not support the normal MSN protocol and uses ...

It doesn't seem to do anything except say "Error on page" when I click those 2 links.

Re: Using browser "back" key results in error message

I'm not sure how I'd fill out a bug report, since I don't know what version of phpbb is running on the phpbb web site, didn't install it myself, etc.

Using browser "back" key results in error message

In the phpbb support forum (which is running some version of 3, I'm not sure which), if you use the jump box at the bottom of the viewforum page to pick a forum, then pick a topic from the resulting page, then click the back key, you get this message: Warning: Page has Expired The page you requested...

Re: Reading other users PMs (as Admin)

just to prove my point and for the heck of it, I changed “Private Messages” on one of my test boards to read “Personal Messages” everywhere. There were 118 Language string changes I made, which took approximately 45 seconds for all of the language files, not difficult at all. I did the same search ...

Firstly, may I introduce you to the http://www.marshalrusty.com/phpBB/icons/icon_post_edit.gif button. Thanks, we've met. You're being patronizing again. I made 4 posts because they addressed different aspects of the problem. I'm confused why you think the OP was making any such point. You're corre...

Re: Reading other users PMs (as Admin)

And a meta-comment. I have read every word of every post in this thread. This problem came up several times in the year and a half that we have been running our high school reunion web site, and one of the times was quite recent. It's bang on to a problem we're having with perceptions of privacy or ...
