Re: Allowing moderators to see Email adress of members

Thank you for that! I have given some of the full moderators of the board, some admin permissions so that they can delete spammers and all their posts in one go. They do seem to be able to see the Email addresss in the profile.. so what admin permission allows them to see the Email address? If there...

Allowing moderators to see Email adress of members

I have a few moderators on a forum, that help control spam. They just have the basic moderator abilities to delete spammer post and suspend them, without the full moderator access. It would be useful for these moderators to be able to see the Email address of new members in their profile, which ofte...

Re: Help I got Spammers!

Just use it manually to check new users before they spam the forum... In my experience over 90% of the time they are listed on this site, before they get to my forum, so I can delete them before they do any damage.

Re: Help I got Spammers!

They may not be bots, but human spammers. Since they tend to look the same as regular members, it's hard to find an automated way of stopping them. Perhaps appoint a few more moderators to help shut them down quickly.

Re: Updating without styles

Thank you, I will try that!

Since on my test forum, the upgrade worked and the forum ran without errors, when NO changes were made to my custom style, I have no way of knowing if it will do the job properly or not... but I'll take you word for it that that's going to do it :P

Re: Updating without styles

Your plan will work. Make sure you have a backup of the style files and pay close attention to any modified files and conflict files that are listed for your style. Some updates you may have to manually which you can do by following subsilver2 Code Changes . If I use my method of copying my custom ...

Re: Enable forum before DNS propagation

I recently moved server and i managed to login to my board on my new server using the IP and enable it. I used Google Chrome in incognito mode so that there was no issue with cookies. Surprisingly this actually worked for me as well, which made things easy. the move seemed to work fine, and DNS pro...

Re: Updating without styles

Thanks, I'll try that!

This must be an issue for everyone that uses their own styles? In this respect it sounds more sensible to just modify the files of one of the standard styles, instead of making your own style, or you'll need to go through this process every time...

Re: Updating without styles

Fair enough, so I'll have to update these as well. To take advantage of the auto-updater, could I: 1. Copy all the files from my custom style folder to the subsilver2 style folder(as I don't use subsilver2 style). 2. Run the auto-updater, which should update and merge all the files in the subs...

Re: Updating without styles

Thanks for that!

I ran it on a test forum, and things seem to look OK without the changes to the customs style (based on subsilver2).

Differences are likely to only be cosmetic though, right? It should not interfere with the running of the forum if I don't make the changes to my custom style?

Updating without styles

I'm in the process of updating from 3.0.6 to 3.0.8. I have my own style, which I would prefer to leave as it is. Can I complete the update and let the auto-update make all the changes to the files (and default style which won't affect the style I'm using). Will this cause any issues?

Thanks a lot!

Enable forum before DNS propagation

I'm moving my forum to a new host and server. After I copy my files and database from server1 to server2, I will update the DNS records. but it will take a while for the DNS to propagate to the new server. I would like to enable the forum ONLY on server2, so that if people see the forum on server1, ...
