Re: Posting Bot

Old but at least it's something:

Uses ALICE AI engine. I think it would be annoying once you get over the initial gimmick factor.

Show first post in viewforum.php

Does anyone know of a MOD that includes the first post of a topic under its name in viewforum.php? I would like to display all the content of the first post underneath the thread link, including BBcode, images et cetera. I understand it may look a little cluttered. Any ideas? I know of a complete po...

Dedicate one forum to DIY 'blog' system?

I prefer the phpBB template system over systems like Wordpress. I was thinking it would be fun to modify a phpBB board such that viewforum.php is duplicated and it would have a forum name hard coded into it. I would then modify it to display all first posts of that locked forum - these posts would b...

Email administrator on post / thread creation? (Strict forum

Hi folks, I'm trying to assist in setting up a highly moderated forum. Currently all new posts and threads are "frozen" until validated by an administrator. This brings the issue of alerting the administrator to a newly frozen post or thread to make them active in a timely manner. I would like to im...

RSS "Post Bot"?

Hi guys. I'm just wondering if there exists a MOD that allows an admin to configure a number of "bots", each of which grab RSS feeds from specific URLs and post the content as if it were a user of the forum? I would like to set up a DiggBot, and some bots for other good content sites, for example :P...

Re: Login during "post reply" or "newtopic" - Possible?

Well, it's just as I described in my initial request. My goal is to have users interact with my forum as follows: They browse through a forum and its topics until they want to reply or post a new topic. Then they hit the appropriate button (New topic or Post reply) which will take them directly to p...

Re: Login during "post reply" or "newtopic" - Possible?

Thanks for moving it to a more appropriate forum. What is wrong with the current system? Where the user clicks the Reply or New Topic and is directed to the Login page, and after that is redirected to the posting page... I know that, and I acknowledged this was an odd request in my original post... ...

assign_block_vars - Adding conditions to certain pages.

I would like to create some of my own conditions using "assign_block_vars". What I want to achieve is a slightly different looking posting.php page based on whether my users are replying, or creating a new topic. (I want to hide the "Subject" input at all time except for when the user is creating a ...

Login during "post reply" or "newtopic" - Possible?

Hi there. I would like to allow my users to see the "new topic" or "reply" pages regardless of whether or not they are logged in. Then, I would like to have a username and password input box on those pages. This way, they can enter their username and password as they are typing a topic / reply. When...

Subforums + Subforum name as external link?

Hello, I would like to set myself up a forum which uses the subforums mod (Simple Subforums seems to be all the rage) but I would also like to be able to create subforums that link to an external page.

Any advice? Has someone created a mod like this for the Simple Subforums mod?

Thank you! :)

Mass-email only to users who haven't logged in?

Is there any easy way to send out a mass email to all users who have never logged in?

On that note, is there any way to easily send a mass email to only users matching certain characteristics? (Eg. Not signed in in the past month, made over 500 posts etc)?

Thanks!

Adding PHP code to run on every page - common.php?

Hi ladies and gents. I want to get a script running that loads on every page. It was a MOD designed to show the most popular topics on the index, however I want it to be available on every page. The theme modifications have been taken care of, I just need the underlying PHP code to run everywhere. I...

CHMOD paranoia

Hi all. I was just rearranging some PHPBB stuff, creating a few new folders etc and noticed all the folders in my PHPBB directory are CHMOD'd to 755. Is 755 acceptable? I thought it was something different by default. I did some searching but couldn't find much info (Also I noticed the search featur...
