Re: Do you guys use a front end for your boards?

actauuly what did you mean by front end for the board. You mean the templates? No. I'm talking about when someone types in http://www.yoursitehere, where does it take you. Does it take you straight to your message board, or does it take you to a front end (like here at phpbb.com) that greets the us...

Re: The hardest question of all... how do you get new users?

Hard-work i can understand, but the purpose not so well... would you mind to elaborate on the purpose part for me a bit, or is it just that its better if your forum has a specific purpose or a specific topic... or is general better...? To my mind, purpose is having a site that has a specific direct...

Re: Anyone gone live with RC1?

Yup. I'm live with RC1 and so far haven't had any problems. Mind you I haven't gone about doing any HUGE mods to my board, but so far (knock on wood) so good.

Re: Do you guys use a front end for your boards?

I'm aiming for more of a community area where people can exchange ideas and comments and reviews. I like the idea of having a portal of sorts as my main page, but as I stated before, I'm struggling with getting the two to intergrate without having duplicate information. A simple portal, one that dis...

Do you guys use a front end for your boards?

And if so, why? I'm struggling with trying to determine what content goes where. Do I post stuff to the front end (like if I'm using Joomla) or do I just say the heck with everything and have my users go straight to my message boards. Ideas?

Ah, thanks. I'm not using the login bit with Joomla, but I see what you're getting at. I was kind of wondering about that myself...

Changing the Colour of the Header

I'm running RC1. Where do I go to change the light blue color of the header bar that's behind the logo? I've tried looking in the overall_header.html file but I didn't see anything in there relating to colour. Or, was I just not looking for the right thing (which is entirely possible BTW). I've done...

Re: Categories not showing

Sounds like the permissions aren't setup properly. One of the quick ways around this is to copy permissions from an already established forum/category. Just make sure though that you're not setting up access to a forum for a group of users who shouldn't be getting access to it (obviously :? )

Ok, Noobie time...What's a bridge (I'm using Joomla on my site too) and how does it differ than just creating a link and pointing it your install of phpBB?

Re: allowing pics or attachments?

If you want to allow them to be uploaded into the actual posts you are going to have to install something such as the attachment mod to the forum, this allows file uploading into posts including pictures. A quick question about this MOD that I hope can be answered here, rather than on the 1,362 pag...

I'm sure you've looked in to this already, but have you set the permissions for the avatar upload directory to read an write (777)?

Re: how can users add avatars

Does the site you're linking to allow external linkages? Some of the free graphics/picture hosting sites out there do not allow this.
