Restoring database files using phpmyadmin

Hey guys. I have my nice clean copy of phpbb on my new server. I would now like to do two things: Restore the backed up board data and restore the database backup. Firstly, the board data. Is it as simple as allowing the backed up files to overwrite the board files already in place? Will that work? ...

Hope I have not screwed up massively

So, I downloaded the information from my original site before moving the domain to another host, just like the new host told me to. (no one mentioned backing up databases, until I posted here this afternoon when it was too late, though I do have a backup that I made in the ACP this morning) I have t...

Downloading a clean copy of RC3?

Where can I download RC3? I'm having a rough time restoring my files and I think that would be the solution. Thanks.

Re: .htaccess will not upload

Cool. So should I leave them renamed or just leave them off entirely?

Re: .htaccess will not upload

ok, I don't mind that, I guess. However, now that all the files are uploaded, I'm getting the following error: General Error SQL ERROR [ mysql4 ] Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (46) [2002] An sql error occurred while fetching this page. Re: .htaccess will not upload

It didn't work. I can't rename it to .htaccess. The server simply won't allow it

.htaccess will not upload

Hi there. I'm trying to create a backup board for my users to use while I switch over the name servers. I have FTPed everything down to my harddrive with no problems. However, in trying to upload all the files back to the temporary site location, it's stopping on all .htaccess files. I called my hos...

Re: Moving host and upgrading

I've tried xampp, but that didn't work for me and it just managed to give me incessant error messages, even after I removed/uninstalled it. I am a relative idiot when it comes to all this and I've tried updating my database, but my server keeps on timing out. I have decided not to do my update until...

Re: Moving host and upgrading

I can back up all the other files too, right? By downloading the original files, in case something really goes gablooey, I can restore RC3?

Moving host and upgrading

So I need to move my board to another host now (I'm thinking Yahoo, since I've been with them for years), and I also need to upgrade from RC3 to Gold, ready some skins for the new Gold, etc. I'm thinking about doing the upgrade in the way which was described (overwriting all files except for config)...
