Bizarre Permissions Problems (Attachments)

Okay, so I've recently changed my web-server from Apache to nginx, as the latter seems to have a much more stable memory footprint (Apache was often exploding in RAM usage). Anyway, nothing else has changed, but since doing this I'm encountering a weird permissions issue with my phpBB forum; namely,...

Re: [RC] HTTP Guest Cache

Hmm, $template->assign_var looks like another incomplete line that's had an insertion in the middle, rather than after; are you applying the changes manually or are you using autoMOD? Here's how that block of code should look after the addition: if ($cron_type) { $template->assign_var('RUN_CRON_TASK...

Re: [RC] HTTP Guest Cache

It looks like you've inserted code into the middle of a line rather than after it, so you've left the $amp_delim = stranded from the ($is_amp) ? '&' : '&'; . Also, the amp_delim and url_delim lines should come first. So to fix your second code snippet it should look like this: $amp_delim = ($is_amp)...

Re: [RC] HTTP Guest Cache

Okay, well thanks for letting me know anyway, I'll have to find some time to get both mods installed to see if I can reproduce this and figure out what's happening; it's definitely a weird one as the mobile style mod's swapping of template shouldn't strictly affect my mod. You're right that I may ha...

Re: [RC] HTTP Guest Cache

Both MODs add code to session.php and there will be an issue when it is there. Are these both definitely incompatible? I just had a look at the second link but it seems to just check whether you're accessing the site from mobile.yourdomain.com and changes the style, which shouldn't cause any issues...

Re: [RC] HTTP Guest Cache

Hmm, there must some kind of oddity with how the mobile style is generating its URL; my mod uses the $_EXTRA_URL global variable to trigger append_sid() to add the cache parameter automatically. I picked this method because it should be compatible with everything… that is unless it modifies the URL ...

Re: [RC] HTTP Guest Cache

What's going on? It's most drastic with google - not indexing at all, but shows no errors. Hmm, I'm not sure; do you have any other mods installed? I notice that your response headers include an ETag, but phpBB doesn't add that header to pages, and neither does my mod. It seems like bot users are s...

Re: [RC] HTTP Guest Cache

The search engine bots listed in your ACP are not guests when they crawl your site. For the purposes of this mod they are treated as if they were guests; they'll sign in long enough to appear as active on the site, but will then pull pages from cache if they're held somewhere between the spider and...

Re: Disable Guest User Sessions

Unfortunately not; I do believe I know where a change would need to be made to do this, but it's in the main session code which is something I'm not eager to touch. In my particular case though I've written a mod that causes guest pages to be cacheable via HTTP proxies (you can find it here ) since ...

Re: [RC] HTTP Guest Cache

"cache" in the URL will hurt SEO. There will be 2 urls for each page, that bad for SEO. It shouldn't be; for the purposes of this mod all bots (search spiders) are treated as guests, which mean that nearly all pages they view will be redirected to add cache=1 (if it isn't already there), which mean...

Re: [RC] HTTP Guest Cache

This mod works fine with Nginx server without Apache? I can't say for sure as I don't have nginx setup to test it, but I don't see any reason why it shouldn't work as the mod doesn't use any features that phpBB doesn't already require in order to run. So if you can run phpBB then this mod should wo...

Re: [RC] HTTP Guest Cache

I'm not sure you need to do this? My site uses CloudFlare but I still see the correct IP addresses if I look at post info (the question mark in a triangle icon on prosilver); CloudFlare should function as a transparent proxy in that the server shouldn't know it's there unless it specifically looks f...

Re: [RC] HTTP Guest Cache

Well the reason it does this is that in each case it's building the URL via different means. All internal URLs on your board pass through the append_sid function, and if you are viewing a cacheable page then my mod ensures that the cache parameter is added by this function so that all pages you visi...

Re: The Uploaded Files is Empty

You could be timing-out. 30 seconds is a short time to be uploading a large file across the internet. The 30 seconds is for the script execution time, max_input_time on my host is set to -1 which means file uploads can take an unlimited time. It's only once files have finished uploading that the 30...

Re: The Uploaded Files is Empty

Are you sure the file that is trying to be uploaded isn't damaged? The file itself is fine, and I can attach it to a test board that I have on my local machine without any apparent issues. It's just really bewildering, as I can't see why phpBB would see the file as being empty, as my browser(s) see...
