Re: Should I use keywords and description in my phpbb forum?

There's a meta tag MOD that HOL made and I cleaned up and released as well as another one and I use those but that's it. They just take keywords off a topic page or if you're on say index.php, it has global keywords. I can't say how well it works but I like to use it.

Re: Is IE6 a priority anymore?

I agree with Mr. Adam, my site is more towards technology, downloads, things of that nature so I'm not going to worry about IE6 users, most of my users use Firefox or at least an updated IE.

Re: Security tips

phpBB is secure as is and has no known exploits or vulnerabilities. When servers are compromised, it's usually something to do with the user(admin), like installing MODs that have exploits, or having some other software installed that is exploitable. Also, do basic things, don't use the same passwor...

Re: Pre modded php forum ??

Also, the MODS could pose a security risk. Even if someone was to instal all validated MODs, they could become abandoned and not be updated with the phpBB versions. Not to mention, the team does their best but I've seen a MOD that was validated that the author later found a security issue with it. I...

Re: prosilver Special Edition

After using several other styles I decided to use this as it's officially supported and customizable in the way I'd like. I have a few questions though as illustrated in my attachment. 1: How can I make the corners transparent to show the background? I tried making the background of the PSD transpar...

Re: phpbb.com/community dev code issues

I would send it to the website tracker to keep it separate from the 3.0.x bugs.

Re: Pulling announcements

Something like this? http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=71&t=587812 Ok, that looks like about what I need so thanks, I have a questions though. How can I assign the variables to the template. I'm using a custom page used from the KB article where you have a template body and I'd rather ...

Re: Pulling announcements

All topics out of an announcement forum, well, some, say display the title of the last 5 or whatever.

Pulling announcements

I'm trying to be able to pull topics(announcements and display them on a custom page. I've looked at several mods and I just can't find something simple. All I want to do is pull the threads and display them on another page and be able to use the variables in the HTML file. Members and guests will b...

Re: Welcome PM on First Login

How could possibly the following error occur when using approximately 6 lines of text when wpm_message is defined as MEDIUMTEXT in the database? Data too long for column 'wpm_message' at row 1 [1406] And how can I fix it? Mediumtext should be able to hold way more ata afaik. You might be using an o...

Re: Broken Link?

Same forums, different issue. There is no SQL warning. It's just like the site got taken right off the internet. It doesn't matter, it's not your board, so therefore there's nothing you can do. And as Daro said, it looks like a server issue. I'm sorry if it's a forum you visit frequently and like b...

Re: Broken Link?

Also, you've already been answered once here:

http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopi ... &t=1670245

Unless it's YOUR board, there's nothing you can do so I'm not sure why you made a second topic. Should the board owner need help, you can direct him here.
