Re: [Oceania] phpBB Down Under - Interest levels?

July is better as uni will have finished and people can travel a bit.

The eastern seaboard of AU is probably best if people want to travel from both Perth and NZ.

Re: Social networks and should i start one

Any problems in starting a single community with phpBB are magnified many fold when starting something that tries to encompass several levels above. While they can work for a niche, often they do not solve the problem the niche requires other than fulfilling the "must use current buzzwords"...

Re: How to organise an event - answers, tips, tricks and advice

If you don't want to spend money on a hotel conference room.

Many public libraries have rooms that community groups can book for free. Also try a local university to see if they will sponsor you a room.

Re: Who owns phpbb?

The GPL uses copyright law to enforce a specific set of ideals. The GPL is a license, copies are licensed under a specific set of terms and conditions, such as the GPL (the case with phpBB). In order for the GPL to be enforceable, the code has to be owned by someone (or an incorporated company/assoc...

Re: Are you using Firefox 3?

Absolutely. Firefox just makes sense, and anyone who bags it (especially those who work in IT for big companies) hasn't used it properly.

I have a couple of extensions, web developer, firebug, html validator, and BBcodeXtra context menu.

Re: phpBB Staff

Part of one of the last things I did when I was still participating here was prepare this page (later tweaked by Eric, and probably changed since) http://www.phpbb.com/mods/volunteer/ Which is a very good place for getting started, and knowing where to get started. The other teams are a bit harder t...

Re: Does any knows if phpBB3 support HTML?

HTML was removed for security concerns as it is difficult to secure, and to keep secured as web browsers change and evolve. Because it is a security enhancement, the phpBB Modifications Team will not approve a MOD that adds HTML back into phpBB3.0.

Re: Coding Standards and the Header Template

But am I supposed to modify the copyright/email variables? Yes, the work is legally copyright to you, not phpBB. This is a legal requirement. As for the $Id section: Am I supposed to set the version to the version of my file? Ignore and remove unless you intend to use version control (CVS, SVN, etc...

Re: phpBB.com design

Hello, I have already responded to a similar question in this thread: http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=575871 To summarise, doing so would be a violation of copyright law as many of the visual components of our website are not licensed under an open license. As a user of the w...

Re: Style used by phpbb.com

Hello, Copyright law does not discriminate between for commercial and non-commercial uses. Copyright infringement is copyright infringement. If you asked Vlad and he gave you permission, then that is something entirely different as you have sought a license (and have potentially been granted one). I...
