Re: Security of phpBB 3.0???

My board is fairly popular, and has never been hacked because I keep up to date with updates. I have been using it since phpBB2.0 RC2 and recently updated to phpBB3.0 RC2, and updated to phpBB3.0 RC3 the day it was released as I do with all updates. So getting hacked is merely a reflection on the ad...

Re: Go PHP5

It says there will still be security patches until 2008-08-08, so it's not dead for quite a while yet. The announcement essentially puts it on the same "no new features by security updates where necesary" ground that phpBB2.0 has existed at for the last couple of years. There will be alot ...

Re: Go PHP5

I take the opinion that IE7 is a security update and should replace IE6 as fast as possible IMO. However I recognise that IE6 still has a large marketshare, and do not wish to alienate users of the browser because I get up on a political whim one day. This is the real world, not everything is perfec...

Re: GPL v3 released, what do you think?

The only thing that protects you against a patent is prior art. The GPLv3 is not magic in this regard. It does not protect you. Either prior art existed or it didn't. The announcement for the GPLv3 was far too politically motivated and should have cut to the merits of the license rather than speilin...

Yes, completely run by volunteers, it's a hobby. phpBB software is release for free, and is free, and will always be free.

A SF.net project would be a good way to go.

Re: Who created the new design of PHPBB?

The customisations are not GPL.

The round-corners and the header graphics are off-limits as they are not present in the download package.

Re: What mods phpbb.com uses?

phpBB3 doesn't ship with RSS.

What you see is a separate script made in-house for phpBB.com. It is not a MOD.

Re: will it differs?

Moved.
http://www.phpbb.com/mods/ wrote:phpBB uses its own authorisation/session handling, database abstraction layer and template systems. Here you will find guides on how to use them to create your own modifications for phpBB2.0 and 3.0. phpBB2.0 and 3.0 modifications are fundamentally incompatible with eachother.
