Re: [RC5] Smartfeed for phpBB 3

Just in case: Pezzoni, did your empty your cache folder after having applied the mod ? Did it as described in the installation though the ACP, and just did it manually through FTP; same result. I would definitely check to make sure all the $config variables were applied. In phpMyAdmin, you can chec...

Re: [RC5] Smartfeed for phpBB 3

Only happens in the ACP: in the General > Board Configuration all the links (except for 'Attatchment Settings') link to a blank page. I tried setting error reporting on and to E_ALL in php.ini, but still nothing was appearing. I'm pretty sure that this only happened once I'd applied the mod, but I a...

Re: [RC5] Smartfeed for phpBB 3

Both functions.php and acp_board.php are as they should be (and the problem occours even when reverting to the backed-up versions of those files).

Re: [RC5] Smartfeed for phpBB 3

I am having the exact same problem with the blank page (also affects everything from 'Board Settings' down to 'Smartfeed Settings'. I've definately run the SQL, and I'm 99% sure I've applied the code changes properly.

Re: Forum Admins - Good to maintain a high online presence?

I think it depends on the context of your community. On the forum I currently run, it is entirely unmoderated aside from splitting, moving etc topics, with the only rules being to tag stuff as nsfw, and obviously nothing illegal. It's relatively small (100ish members), and everyone has known each ot...

Re: U.S Soldier use Koran to practice his Marksman skills

I find it hard to fathom the idea of devoting to your life to something like that but once again, that is my view. As for the reason we're in Iraq....as you said is debatable so I don't believe that can hold up in this argument. I see a non-ending circle here. Respect what they believe in but they ...

Re: U.S Soldier use Koran to practice his Marksman skills

Drugs wrote:They insult our culture, values, and ways of life so what's the big difference? I'm seeing a big double standard here.
So what? We should lower ourselves to their level? Do the very opposite of what we set out to achieve?

Re: U.S Soldier use Koran to practice his Marksman skills

It was an immense act of irresponsibility and stupidity, given the location. Beyond that, it doesn't bother me. If the responsible persons face any kind of charges, it should be for endangering their fellow soldiers.

Sorry about that - never thought it could be the RC8 part of the update!

Thanks,

Re: On Install, should Cache be cleared? *Not Support Question*

This would be a good idea; after upgrading from RC5->7, several of my users were unable to submit forms due to files in the cache - removing them manually fixed the problem, but it would have been a lot simpler had it been done automatically.

Re: Go PHP5

I like the idea. As a developer, it would be good to move away from the (now archaic) PHP4 without compramising compatibility. As a webhost, it is a bit of a pain, but it would be good to be able to be 'up to date' without compromising users ability to run older scripts. I am surprised to see PHPMyA...

Re: The hardest question of all... how do you get new users?

I reckon the biggest draw is entirely separate from the forums: Website content. I've run two popular forums in the last couple of years. The first was attached to a website with regular, well written, unique and relevent content, and that gained a good, and growing number of users, all posting regu...
