Re: Old Phpbb website or this one?

I like the post information being on the right. It will take getting used to, but it is a good design decision (and, as demonstrated, easy to reverse).

Due to an entire lack of strange processes or behaviour, and the scans I'm forced to run whenever my uni decides to lock everyone out of the network without the above software?

Re: Windows vs. Linux

XP: I have never had a good experince with this system ever since that virus that reset it every thirty seconds. With XP you have to set up virus protection, firewalls, spyware protections, and do regular scans to protect the system which can often cause strain on the resources. I have no firewall,...

Re: Windows vs. Linux

I've tried several distributions of Linux as a desktop OS over the last 5 years or so, and none are up to scratch yet. I can't be bothered to arse about fixing silly little problems and incompatibilities when I could just install Windows and have a totally working operating system requiring a few ea...

Re: Old Phpbb website or this one?

I much prefer this one. My only gripe is that I have a lot of unused space down the sides: my fault for using 1600x1200 though, I guess :D

Re: How do you do your development?

I run Samba on my testing server, then map the drive in Windows. My IDE can then modify the files directly on the testing server, whilst it 'appears' they are local. When I've made changes, I commit / update to / from CVS with Tortoise (with the folder on the testing server avaiable through Samba be...

Re: legal issues

I would ignore them, so long as you are ABSOLUTELY SURE that they deserve to be on that list, and can prove that they do, otherwise you would be in line for a Libel lawsuit.
This does depend on your location, however. US Libel and Slander laws are laxer than the UK ones, for example.

If it bothers you, then don't use their services.
For a few quid a year you can have a POP3 email account, with a name of your choice, no attatchment limits, a spam filter that actually works somewhere between 'General Von Klinkerhoffen' and 'Not At All', and no adverts.

I played with Beta1 on my old system, but the moust lagged to the point of being unusable unfortunately.
I'm now eagerly awaiting Beta2... Anyone know when it's predicted release it?

I was actually getting at the number of versions of Vista, 7 just seems a stupid number, all it'll do is confuse consumers. The most basic one won't be avaliable in more developed contries, so that's six. I also imagine that the business versions will not be actively sold to the home market, taking...

You need the right topic...
As much as it pains me to do so, I've realised that I'm never going to get a majority of people posting intelligent and constructive things on my board, so I'm just living with it :)

The new Windows' system requirements are kind of high, it needs at least 512 or 1 gb of ram, and it needs a Sata hard drive with transfer speed at least 100mb/s. I find the RAM part fairly hard to believe (I'd expect a minimum of 512 needed for maximum visual effects), and the hard drive part impos...

No rules about the direction they spray! Guess I might turn mine sideways so that the next time someone pulls up alongside playing head banging music (anything later than 1970) with window down I can show him what I think of it.  Jim I thought of doing somthing like that, ...
