Re: CAPTCHA vs skill-testing question

I don't wish to dispute your entire post as it seems clear we aren't going to come to a common agreement on this. I will acknowledge your point that complete ignorance of the relationship between speed, distance and time must be rare, but I propose that the quantitative, or symbolic expression of th...

Re: CAPTCHA vs skill-testing question

I have to be honest here: the phrase "not particularly numerically orientated" is a pretty generous way of describing someone who's basically too stupid to pass grade 9 math. No it isn't. It's a way of describing someone whose daily life does not involve manipulation of physical quantitie...

It is if only users registered for more than 2 minutes can post. Some spam is better than none, from their perspective.

Re: CAPTCHA vs skill-testing question

Anyone who is not particularly numerically-orientated will not be interested in attempting to solve that problem.

Re: Confusing first steps

P.S. For grammatical reasons, I'd also suggest the following (changes are underscored): If your posts and topics have gotten out of sync , you can also resynchronize a forum. Is this in the British English language pack? "Gotten" is a rarely used word in the UK, with the exception of &quo...

Re: Pbpbb has a legal department?

Isn't "organisation" also the British spelling? The Oxford English Dictionary contends that the suffix "-ize" (from which "-ization" derives) is preferable because it may trace its origin to the classical Greek "-ιζειν", which is transliterated to the Latin a...

Re: What's the difference between /en and /en_us?

Bizarrely, GB is the ISO-3166 country code for the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. In other contexts, GB stands for the island of Great Britain, to the exclusion of Northern Ireland, which lies of course on the island of Ireland. Great Britain thus includes the kingdoms of Engl...

Re: Member wants deleting

Anyway if you really want to be mean do the following.... Port the board to an international server and delete the one that is US based. Then you say "That database backup was done before the outcome of the court case. I have no control over a forum hosted in Mexico." Just make sure you s...

Re: Petition banning "Crush" videos

The difference between the "honour killing" and the "crush" videos is that the "honour killings" are suicide and isn't murder. The people recording these videos are supporting the crime by doing so and the videos shouldn't be watched by anyone and so it should be illeg...

Images will be cached client-side. Having resources (style sheets, Javascript) in external files rather than included in the page means clients can cache them. This is more efficient.
