If you take a look into my development forum , I've just gone a step further :) The box scrolls with the screen when made visible, thus making it easy to use the browsers native ability to select and drag'n'drop text. This new mod requires a database update thanks to adding a on/off switch for guest...

Darn. I never noticed this thread getting more posts as I never replied into it. I just thought nobody ever noticed the mod existed and then forgot about it for a good while. Anyways, I'll update the code sooner or later as I noticed the current released version appears to be slightly buggy. I might...

I'm not working on this mod anymore due to lack of interest on phpBB. I'm working on my own customized forum only for my own use, basing in phpBB but basically writing every line myself. There also was so minimal interest on this mod that it wasn't worth working on it. This thread can be locked if a...

Converting a big database from ISO-8859-1 to UTF-8

I have a rather large database of about 260 MB, in a webhotel, so copying the whole DB using phpMyAdmin and then dumping back isn't a nice option for me to do (not forgetting my bad connection). Is there any "easy" method of converting the whole phpBB database to UTF-8? If I had English board I coul...

It might work better with a simplified template, with subSilver it is plain ugly. Now it looks acceptable only in resolutions above 1024 x 768...

Well, afaik phpBB never makes it orange. It is always white. Atleast I think so... I just hope I checked the correct file.

Asked that, because I've done it differently: I show both parent and child in main, but when you click to see parent, you only see the childs. So it is like the parent is a standalone board.

niekas: How does your parent forum behave if it is set to be invisible, but there are child forums that should be visible?

You should enable to see the file extensions :)

Tools > Folder Settings > View > uncheck Hide known file extensions

That's a translation as I don't have English Windows so it might vary a little. And under Win9X you can find Folder Settings elsewhere.

The .mod files are just plain text files. Open them in a text editor to read them.

Related to database. Most often you have your phpBB running with MySQL database. phpMyAdmin is a popular and the most common database tool used to edit the MySQL database. Query is what you run to edit the database.

Been there, done that... almost. I left one forum due to very unclear admin who was far too flamy and aggressive. I didn't do by myself anything wrong, but I didn't agree the overall way the things were handled. A ban was left pretty unreasoned and it left an unsecure feeling: "if you don't like wha...
