Re: [3.1.6] Avatars are not displaying since update - but a valid file is being sent.

Where does it say not to delete the assets folder? My apologies - that was copied from some duff info - in fact I DID delete the assets folder. Sorry. have you at any time, downloaded and/or uploaded the attachments/avatars using filezilla? No, but... you got me thinking. That "valid" jpg that down...

Re: Bulk image attachment resizing/management.

Thanks - that looks like a useful thing for sure, but doesn't really help with the "inline" resizing, or the problem of resized file vs what is in the DB etc. In which case, I think I'll have a think about exactly what it is I need to do, make a use case for it, and put it out there to see if anyone...

Bulk image attachment resizing/management.

phpbb 3.1.4 on Ubuntu 15.04. Is there some tool, command line or other, than I can run through the entire attachment directory, find which are images, and resize to a max of say 1200 on either side, and also re-compress anything bigger than say 500k? For example, there are some ridiculously large 12...

Re: How to move a forum when host refuses database?

Another option might be this plugin for Google Chrome: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/web-scraper/jnhgnonknehpejjnehehllkliplmbmhn/reviews It's extraordinarily powerful but you will definitely need to spend some time watching the intro videos! It'll be frustrating at first, but once you'v...

Digging data directly from the database. Or not?

Let's say I wanted a csv table of all topics, and links to that topic, between certain dates, excluding certain forums. As it happens, I can very easily generate this from a standard install simply by changing min username characters to 0 and search on username using no criteria except forum exclusi...

Re: Fulltext mysql create search index

Using 3.1 RC5 and php 5.6/mysql 5.6 here, struggled with this most of the evening. Eventually read the error message a little closer, and ended up doing this directly in phpmyadmin: ALTER TABLE phpbb3_posts MODIFY post_subject varchar(255) COLLATE utf8_unicode_ci DEFAULT '' NOT NULL, ADD FULLTEXT (p...

Re: Secure Login

While you log in using SSL, if your session cookies are sent over HTTP instead of HTTPS, they can be stolen and the account impersonated. It's your choice, I just want to let you know the reasons for all or nothing. Ah, OK! Excellent reasons! Fair enough. And it wasn't until after I'd posted that I...

Re: Secure Login

An old topic, but yes. :) As mobstergeek and I both stated, SSL is the way to go. Feel free to let us know if you have any questions about setting it up. True, it HAS been a while since 2008, but I was wondering what changed your mind between then ("pointless waste of time and resources") to now ("...

Re: Secure Login

you will not gain anything by doing this . Do a search on this board to see how many people have had passwords intercepted. Or don't, because there are none. :) It's just really not worth the trouble. Because it is a job to set it up, it slows things down, and it has no real security advantages. I ...

That would certainly be the holy grail of button adding. Lots of people asking for it on various forums, no responses yet. If I learn of a way anywhere else, I'm post it here!

Re: Cookie problems? Can't reach ACP? Only works in Opera?

Cookie path should only be / It's caused by the redirect. Check your server settings. Running on a completely different server now - we used to be running apache on ubuntu, then we were running apache on red hat, now we're running nginx (as a server, not a proxy) on red hat. The problems were alway...
