So it could be something md5(strtoupper($username) . $password . $forumdname) Might just be me... but that is about the most retarded 'seed' I've never seen for MD5. (again, might just be me) The likely-hood of anybody ever having problems with: md5(date"U"); are 136,000(3) (ruff #) to 1 ...

We use MD5



My only problem with MD5 is that EVERYTIME:

abc will = 900150983cd24fb0d6963f7d28e17f72



Beyond that, MD5 is probably the most popular and easy-to-use encryption PHP has.

To the best of my knowledge (as a phpBB Group Developer) -all- of the issues that haunted phpBB1.x will never be a factor in phpBB2.


As for people going through phpBB2 code looking for weakness.... Yes, many have!
