Very strange.

I am seeing failures on other mysql-based sites, so I have my server admin looking into it. Hopefully I will learn something soon..

Urgent: System down after mysql upgrade to 4.1

Hello - I used WHM/cpanel to upgrade mysql from 4.0 to 4.1 on a server running to phpbb forums. Now, one of the forums simply loads a blank page (literally nothing in the html). The other allows users to browse the site, but shows the blank page when a user logs in. I am trying to get my sites back ...

being urged to upgrade to mysql 4.1 - will it work?

Hello - I have been poking around the forum but I can't get a clear answer on this one: I have a WHM/cpanel server and I'm being asked by my developers to upgrade to mysql 4.1. I run 2 phpbb forums on that same server, and I'm concerned that the upgrade will break the phpbb forums. WHM has a mysql u...

Easy mod will solve problem?

Reviving this old thread! --> UPDATE: The cloned style was put into place, but now the cpanel/WHM update mechanism will have to be abandonded because I want to have a Google (removal of SID) MOD installed, plus the MOD that puts an adsense ad after the first post of each thread. I am trying to get a...

thanks

Thanks again for this advice. It would be very easy to change it back to using the cloned template each time I updated, so that is actually appealing to me. Would it be a reasonable appoach to simply make a cloned subSilver and use that, then update using cpanel + make that change? This actually see...

ahh.. I didnt know that easymod handled updates to phpbb as well. Do you think it would be good to implement that instead of using teh cpanel update mechanism?

also - is there any chance that cpanel would roll over the easyupdate code, or is it an outside component that wouldn't be affected?

thanks!

I know it's better to update manually, but it's time consuming so I'm trying to find a way to make this work. There are no mods in our forum so I don't have anything to lose if I can make this work. If I were to add a new style, and that style didn't get updated along with the other code - would tha...

thanks for your reply.. What I meant by clone was: I suspected that when cpanel updates the phpbb script, it's updating the subsilver style but it may not update styles with other names. So, if my forums used non-subsilver styles, the update process might not wipe out the images, etc. contained in t...

seeking advice: cpanel updates wipe out changes to styles!!

Hello - Can anyone please provide any advice/insight for the following? I have a cpanel/WMH server that runs a few phpbb forums. The cpanel/WHM interface can automatically update the phpbb installations, which is extremely convenient for staying on top of updates. The problem is: if I make any modif...

Re: question

Ideally, I would have found a MOD for 'notification of new topic'. However, there isn't one! Yes, there is, but it is buggy, the bug being that although all notification seems to be sent, sometimes the wrong user gets the notification. Someone used the code for the topic notification and copied it ...
