if you know the size of the graphic thats needed (such as 80 x 80, 90 x 90) or whatever, you can use most of the 'photo/image editing' programs out there (like Corel, paint shop pro, adobe photoshop, etc) to convert or crop it to your needs. There are free ones out there. search around, - for exampl...

Re: PHPBB Not Friendly

Im what you would call computer illeterate... The boards are not hard to set up. It is actually quite the opposite. Imo hosting a successful forum is not for ppl who have no experience, especially because dynamic pages usually require code editing to suit the needs of the site. Regardless of this, ...

You have a very very small chance of getting an unbiased opinion here.

if you have no hardware limitations, the forums would theoretically work until you reach around approx @ 3075 simultaneous users, when mysql goes bonkers. or is it 3025. hrm. very very rarely a board has >3075 active users, so I'm sure that 99.99% of phpBB2's users are safe :p there's programming ar...

I guess what I was expecting to see was, after clicking on a main forum title which possessed sub-forums was something like (these would be links to sub forums) >>...

what are the disadvantages of changing the 6 to a 4? ie. why isn't it like this in the first place? security issue. By doing so AOL users will have less/no probs traversing the board, but it becomes easier for someone to 'hijack' your session. And if your'e admin, well tough beans... here is a deta...

There is an easy to use program called MYSQL-Front which lets ppl easily (as in through a GUI) traverse/edit their mysql tables. The program also lets you create/delete tables, and since your'e admin, it will give you full access to all the sql commands for the relevant db. My advice, is to use mysq...

Alot of businesses like to use vbulletin, even if there was a better board for free, It looks clean and it looks profesional using payed software. Sometimes I wonder.. like with the company I work for, the general vibe is that they would rather shell out 30K or even up to 500K for an application ra...

Boards Discussion

A thread on webhostingtalk was talking about boards now, and their upcoming changes etc. Inevitably, most of the talk was about phpBB and Vbulletin. What I find interesting is the opinions of ppl who are not part of the board commuities. Sometimes its helpful to see an outsiders point of view. http:...

if its php, and not phpBB your asking about, go to www.php.net , and check our the 'documentation' and 'faq' links at the top of the page. Related: you might also want to go to www.mysql.com , and click on the documentation link at the top of the page. Basically you need a webhost which provides you...
