Re: Akismet integration

Hello, double idea: https://www.phpbb.com/ideas/idea.php?id=151 In my more than three year experience Stop Forum Spam, BotScout and IP-RBL DNS blacklists are much more helpfully to prevent forum spam as Akismet it is. There are several ways to prevent false positives. Intelligent solutions can prev...

Re: Jquery/Ajax Pagination

Console Can't be more imprecise. Firebug 1.7.3 on Fx 3.6 says 88 requests, sizing 471.1 KiB, uncached on the first page (sort order: post time ascending). Second page used cache and made 34 requests sizing 346.5 KiB (or 94-95 requests sizing 474.7 KiB uncached). I have no clue how you get more requ...

Re: Jquery/Ajax Pagination

Okay, going through a topic on phpBB.com (the introducing phpBB Ideas one). Requests include cached documents, transferred does not. Without AJAX: Console gave me this information. First request did not use cache, everything else did. One page: 105 requests, 66.3KB transferred Two pages: 189 request...

Re: Jquery/Ajax Pagination

This won't reduce server impact, since phpBB needs to perfom initialization along with session verification with every AJAX call aswell. In fact I fear even more server usage: right now I can click 6 pages of a topic and after that can just go back and forth again in my browser, which has cached al...

Re: +1, Like, or something similar

Problem with simplicity/concept is: you can't trace back when and why someone liked it. If posts change/move/vanish from a topic even more context is gone. Not to speak of activity on the board: people tend to click instead of replying with reasons why they like something (and why not ). Similiar t...

How? Have you not ran a board where people submit something multiple times because they do not realise that their post is in the moderation queue?

Re: Multiquote!

Does it work with JS turned off? This is driving me crazy. Why would anyone disable JS. How many people visiting phpBB has disabled JS. And what if user has disabled images. Or what if he is using browser without CSS support. So lets build pages looking like from 1995 because somebody might still u...

As for the general idea: -1, since navigation menu items depend on being logged in or not.
That's pretty easy to have an option for, though…

Reddit! It's not exactly traditional, but it is a threaded forum.

Because users will really choose a question which isn't "mothers maiden name"? It's what they're used to, so it's what they'll put.

I'm against questions. If its someone I know, I can either guess the answers, or simply ask them for them.
