Re: phpBB and the present-future of smartphones

Interesting. Are you talking about what would amount to an XML API? I believe I had some code laying around somewhere that did something to that effect, however I am not sure what happened to it. It didn't provide any ability to accept input (like send PM's, make posts, etc), but it did provide an i...

As a note, Suhosin really won't help defend against a DDoS attack.

Re: [ALPHA] Subject Prefix

This MOD does seem to support subsilver2, but it is ALPHA SOFTWARE . Alpha software should NEVER be used on a live board. Well, unless it is actually a full release, don't use it live. Erik, I'll go sniff the code again soon and let you know if you nubbed anything or if there's an optimization I ca...

Re: Adding Users through SQL

You could do something like this: // Put the global variables used by MODx that conflict with phpBB in $temporary (I don't know which these all are, so you'll have to find out) $temporary = compact('user', 'db', 'cache', ...); // Load phpBB // Login and do whatever you need to with phpBB code // sh...

Re: Adding Users through SQL

Write a function; variables in a function only will exist within that function's scope unless globaled out, preventing any variable clashes.

Remember, it's still in beta, so I would advise placing it on a live board.
any way, i installed it for a friend and works great
Knowing Syntax, he had a typo moment and meant to say do not run it live. ;)

Re: [RC] phpBB Optimization

Undefined index: optimize_global_CONFIRM is simply saying it can not locate the language string. You have to apply the edit to common.php to ALL of your languages. The error is quite odd however, because it is saying optimize_global_CONFIRM . Note the difference in case...if the mod was coded corre...

Re: Suggestion for wiki as custom page

Do any of you use a wiki on your phpbb3 site? Well, I won't let a wiki on the same server as the site I run...you may want to investigate the history of the various wiki softwares ASAP as the ones I have looked at in the past have a history of vulnerabilities, and all it takes is one bad apple to r...

Re: Apple iPad

I don't really like the idea of Apple telling us what we can and can't watch or read or see on the iPad. Who knew that Steve Jobs would be Big Brother? And people are worried about Google and Microsoft. Meanwhile, I'll be having some fun on my open source Operating System, playing with some o...

Re: Total Disappointment with phpBB!!!

I with my vbulletin forum, I can do whatever I wanted, as long as pay, I'm happy. And the same for phpBB. Just don't expect the phpBB teams to provide any support for your illegal crap, as what you are doing is wrong and cannot be justified. EDIT: Also, proof that I use Openoffice. http://i48.tinyp...

Re: Total Disappointment with phpBB!!!

Finally, let's hope the OP gets a job one day spending time creating something that he thinks is brilliant and will make him money, only to find out that it's being passed around for free on the Internet. I wonder what he'll think of warez sites then.... Steve Nah, just take about 70% of the food t...

Re: Total Disappointment with phpBB!

For the same simple fact, you do not buy the Winrar or Office. Are you going to say you have purchased original Winrar? Or the original Microsoft Office 2007? Nope, I didn't purchase Winrar or Office 2007. I use Openoffice.org, Peazip (when in windows, instead of winrar), and Linux Mint 9, ended up...

Re: [Discuss] Announcing Titania, the Customisation Database

Can you shorten the title of the modules, possibly? It's really out of place and looks...something like "CDB section subscriptions" would be much easier on the eyes, though not as easily understood.
Possibly a new tab? I'm not sure.
