Re: image extensions

I need a little more perspective spoken to me... ha. I'm doing math... not currently realistic math but, a thought process... If I, for instance, set the total attachment file size(as in all files) to not exceed 500Mib(default was 50) and then set the individual attacment to not exceed 150kib then w...

Re: hosting question

I'd caution you about having that idea. The primary issue is users often reuse the same password. well that's definitely a true statement. Not myself but, I know that's easy for people to do. As far as SSL those passwords are sent plain text and would be vulnerable to man in the middle on things li...

Re: hosting question

Thanks for that, and, sorry about all the questions... That 21-22% on the cpu, is that similar to say my computer where it will be used a certain amount even if not much is going on? Those numbers are when there's VERY little happening. I guess part of what I'm asking there is if I've got plenty for...

Re: image extensions

I guess I'm a bit paranoid that if things picked up or if anyone, including myself, got picture happy it could impact bandwidth. I believe my current hosting plan has 5GB of storage and 256GB of bandwidth. IF I use an extension, I don't have to think about it. But if I host them myself, then I could...

Re: hosting question

And thanks for the code there. I did that and the results: Performance: last minute: 21.88 (21.9%) • last 5: 21.21 (21.2%) • last 15: 21.16 (21.2%) • 1 CPUs; Memory: 0 free of 101217210368 total @AmigoJack, Was wondering if you could explain what those results meant... and again, appreciate it.

Re: hosting question

I'm not displeased with my current hosting... $7.50 a month... I wasn't looking to switch, I was only looking at the cloud option at my current host because I stumbled across it and it was cheaper. I'm using MDD which, back when I switched, was highly recommended at that webhostingtalk site. I'll pr...

Re: hosting question

Thanks. I'm not good at retaining a lot of information so, simply reading that will overwhelm my brain and, will require multiple readings I'm sure. But, hopefully that will sit in my bookmarks and be a good resource to study from when I need it. And thanks for the code there. I did that and the res...

Re: image extensions

currently, no plans to allow uploads directly to my server. My plan is limited in storage and bandwidth currently. I'm looking at a plan that would increase both but, if traffic ever picked up, I'd need to change things and spend more money again. My site currently generates no revenue... maybe some...

hosting question

Is there a place in Cpanel or somewhere that explains something like the cores you're site has access to? The reason I'm asking is, I was just looking at my host to see what it is I'm paying for. I forgot the numbers... bandwidth and storage... When I go there I see they have these cloud server opti...

Re: image extensions

the problem with using any of the free image hosting sites is that you never know when they are just going to disappear etc. probably the best thing to do is simply use the built in attachment system and host those images yourself. robert I would have to double check the limits to my hosting but I ...

image extensions

This isn't a support request, or extension request, etc etc... General query... There are 4 or 5 image hosting extensions available. Now, I'm a bit OCD and have trouble making decisions.. weigh my options and sometimes, it takes WAY longer than it should. But, I'm starting to wonder if it's e...

acp changed?

EDIT: Feel free to remove this post or whatever. Searching outside of the site, I found a post on the site(ha) that explained that indeed, this feature was removed. So, now I know. I tried searching this... some topics, I just have a hard time searching without my head spinning. How much has...

countermeasures

Over the years, I'm sure this has been discussed at great length. But things change over time, or at least I image(d) they would. Last time I updated the forum software I did it differently than I normally do. Previously I had an image in the header with three letters in it having to do with the sit...

Re: Discuss: phpBB to ship with VigLink extension

I can't believe I was so far behind updating my forum that I'm just seeing this. I'm not going to read through ALL the pages to see if this has ever been mentioned but I was wondering, could PHPBB make a youtube channel they could use for income? There are a LOT of things people come here to ...

Re: manual 3.1.9 to 3.2.2 db update timeout

It's amazing how one little i can cause so much trouble. Put the i in, started the database update over again, and all seems well so far. Finished the update and now poking around at changes. Forum looks a little different, header image is gone, but that will all be worked out. :) Thanks for the help.
