Setting "Reply yes" on specific forums?

Hi, On my board I have a Classifieds section where my members can sell car parts etc. Some users have their "Email me on topic reply" setting to "No" on my board, which is fair enough. I was wondering though, is it possible to make all posts made within a specific forum (my Classifieds section) have...

Re: Error 2002 and 1203 on my board

Yes, Honda Civic Forum is my board.

What makes you say that? This problem has only just started recently and I've had no major hosting problems with Bluehost before.

Re: Error 2002 and 1203 on my board

Ah I see. This problem has been very educational! My board hasn't had this problem for a day or so now, so I'll leave it for the time being. If it happens again, I think I'll just upgrade to the "HighCPU server" Bluehost is talking about. I can't find a better hosting solution in England elsewhere o...

Re: Error 2002 and 1203 on my board

Well again, I'd rather not have to change hosting at all. Is there nothing I can do to find out where I can optimise by board and stop this error from happening? Would this HighCPU server even solve my problem? I'd have more resources available to my site, but my 'max number of database connections'...

Re: Error 2002 and 1203 on my board

Here'e the email thread I had with Bluehost Support. Do you think I should upgrade to a HighCPU server? Greetings! The reason you're getting those errors is because your site is maxing out the user connections for MySQL. You will either need to better optimize the site or see about implementing some...

Re: [RC] Special and Normal Rank Images 1.1.0

Well, I'm sure there must be others like me who are just waiting to try it out on a live board!

Many people just watch a MOD be developed and never get involved. That doesn't mean it won't be wildly popular when it's released though :)

Re: [RC] Special and Normal Rank Images 1.1.0

Any idea when this will be submitted to the Mod Database? It's surely not that complex of a modification?

Re: Error 2002 and 1203 on my board

Many thanks again, Brf.

OK, so upgrading my hosting is my only real option. I assume I can't simply ask my host to increase the number of connections my database is allowed?

I'll email my host and see what they say.

Re: Error 2002 and 1203 on my board

Thanks for your response Brf. I think my host is pretty good actually, and I host many different web sites with them so I'd rather not have to move. I understand that moving to a dedicated server or similar would solve the problem because my site could use more server resources, but is there no way ...

Error 2002 and 1203 on my board

Hi everyone, My board has been growing exponentially, and recently my users and I have been encountering these error message on a regular basis when trying to access the board: General Error SQL ERROR [ mysqli ] Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2) [2002...

Fine-Tuning MySQL Full-Text Search

Hello, I use phpBB to run a Honda car forum. Many Honda models are only three characters long (EJ9, EK4, EP3 etc.) thus three character searches on my board would be very common. However, the default MySQL "minimum search character" limit is set to four . I've asked this on here before, but was told...

Re: Do attached images get indexed by Google?

Aha! An update to this, I changed the groups' global permissions (which didn't allow the "Bot" group to download files) and now it seems at least the HTML of the thumbnails are showing up . I don't understand why this isn't the default option? Surely phpBB want Google to index the attached images on...

Re: Do attached images get indexed by Google?

Thanks for your response ric323. Well, the permissions for the "Bot" group, say that they can download files (which I assume is the same as being able to view attachments): screenshot.png However, putting a page like this through the View a Web Page as 'Googlebot' link you sent me, I can see the "Yo...

Re: Global Announcements on search results page?

Yes, if there is a Global Announcement running, I'd like it to appear above all search results.

Really? Surely it's not that hard to make something that appears in one template output to another also?
