If the size of the file is important, how come when I do a structure only (which is very small say 3k) from the first to the second, it doesnt work either?

Administration panel. But it should still work right?

I just pruned a load and got it down to 840k gzipped and tried again but still got error Error importing backup file

My full backup is gzipped and is 1.1MB compressed and 14.4MB decompressed.

OK I clean installed version .3 to the new site, same as the old one, tried to restore and am still getting errors -->Error importing backup file<--
Any ideas?

Erm, you don't need to go into the install folder for an installation do you?
You just type the base URL in and it does the rest! Unless you're doing something I'm not aware of?

I've got the exact same problem!

The guide sais to not do a full backup but just structure and then data only. You also need the same version.

Let me know if it works after trying that I would love to know!

ZoliveR --> Would trying to backup a .3 version to a clean .4 version, create the errors my other post around here gives? Title of it is DB errors.

I have now tried copying and pasting the forum over to ensure that the path is now the same (/lfc/forum) in both cases (changing config file accordingly) but it still refuses to accept the database saying General Error Error importing backup file I have both windows open at the same time and am down...

The you have the path wrong. If the image hello.gif was in your root directory i.e the directory where index.php is, then type /hello.gif
Alter this accordingly for folders elsewhere.

Go to admin panel, click link at the bottom 'ranks' then button to add new rank...once you've added it, edit it to specify the path of the picture you want it to have and number for posts if appliciable.
