Re: How to get my forum secure with SSL?

When I add the code you mentioned in the .htaccess file of my board (in subdirectory), then when you go to the http version of your board you will be redirected to the https version. The other thing you might look at is setting Strict-Transport Security. While the .htaccess redirect you're using te...

Yes but what else are you expecting that makes you say it isn't enough.

Re: How to get my forum secure with SSL?

So for me the .htaccess file with the code in the root isn't enough. Why isn't it enough, can you please explain what you're expecting from SSL? First I only had the code in the .htaccess file in my root. But I noticed that when I go to the http version of my board it still goes there. When I add t...

Re: How to get my forum secure with SSL?

I think any web application that requires logins should be protected by SSL, so in my opinion the process is worthwhile. There are a couple of things you should be aware of. First, if your board allows users to post signatures and/or image that are hosted elsewhere, you're most likely going to have...

Re: How to get my forum secure with SSL?

Johanna I am going through the same process you are but even when you have dotted all the i s and crossed all the t s you may not get the birthday party you were expecting 99% of your users won't give a toss and you will find that there can be a substantial loss of speed In fact in https my phpBB f...

Re: How to get my forum secure with SSL?

After enable your SSL Go to the secure version of your board and check everything. When it is ok you do the redirect in htaccess so that the members see the secure version. Why worry before you do something? I worry because I have a static website, a wp blog and a phpbb board to make secure. And th...

Re: How to get my forum secure with SSL?

https://webmasters.googleblog.com/2014/08/https-as-ranking-signal.html For now it's only a very lightweight signal — affecting fewer than 1% of global queries , and carrying less weight than other signals such as high-quality content — while we give webmasters time to switch to HTTPS. But over time...

Re: How to get my forum secure with SSL?

if you are using iframes then there is no way to control whether the content of them is secure or not. I would assume that if you have unsecure websites showing in your iframe that google will notice and cause your site to show unsecure. also, my opinion is , that you will not really see any notice...

Let's not confuse actual "security" with pandering to Google.
Steve that doesn't help at all. Of course I know what you mean, but I still want to do this. And I think if you want to stay ending up in Google in a high position, we should do this.
