We use 3.0.0 that doesn`t have clickable avatars. Update is under way, mod probes. But if theres a simple mod that can help us for now it would be great. im pretty sure iwe seen it somewere on this site.

Try changing your language to English and see if the buttons appear. If so, perhaps you do not have the imageset for your language uploaded to the imageset folder of your style.
