Re: phpbb2 to phpbb3

Ok I copied the files into the public_html folder. I am getting an error though. Here is what it is saying when trying to http://gaminglifestyle.net: "PBB_INSTALLED', true); // @define('DEBUG', true); // @define('DEBUG_EXTRA', true); ?> Warning: main(./includes/acm/acm_.php) [function.main]: failed ...

Re: phpbb2 to phpbb3

Are you done with the phpBB2 board now? If yes, then you can just move all the phpBB3 files up into the root folder (where the phpBB2 files are right now). So long as you have allowed it to 'automatically detect paths" in the ACP, it will just work in the new location. Do I go ahead and delete the ...

Re: phpbb2 to phpbb3

You were supposed to remove the install folder within the directory phpbb3 was in. Reupload the files to their previous location, delete the install folder, and rebuild your config.php file with Knowledge Base - Rebuilding Your config.php File . Thank you so much iWisdom you saved me a lot of time....

Re: phpbb2 to phpbb3

Ok. I just converted it. Updated the index files and everything. Then the forum was at gaminglifestyle.net/phpnbb3. The forum was telling me that I had to delete the install files. So I went into the server and deleted the phpbb3 folder. Now the updated forum seems to be gone and gaminglifestyle.net...

I don't know where my phpBB2 board is though. I wasn't the one who transferred it. Freeforums was.

Re: phpbb2 to phpbb3

It's asking you for details of your existing database isn't it ? the database name and the database username and the database password, and so it will want the details of the existing table names. Once you get it working I'm sure someone here will explain to you how to move it all to your root dire...

Re: phpbb2 to phpbb3

Your existing board will use the phpbb_ prefix as it shows you in that config.php file you opened, as long as your new board uses something different as a prefix you'll be OK, so the question is are you being asked for the table prefix of your existing database, or your new database (it doesn't kno...

Re: phpbb2 to phpbb3

That file should contain a load of lines that detail the database setup of your current (phpBB2) board, it must be OK because your board is working, so find the line that has the database name on it and that'll be the name you want, you'll want the other details like the database username and passw...

Ok I found it and opened it with Notepad. What exactly do I need out of it? It just looks long one long line of stuff.

Re: phpbb2 to phpbb3

Are you going to use the same database as your phpBB2 board for your new board ? If so the details you want are in the config.php in the root directory of your phpBB2 install, BUT be sure to use a different table name change the phpbb_ to something like phpbb3_ That's the thing. I don't know where ...

Re: phpbb2 to phpbb3

Create yourself a new database if you intend to use a new database OR if you intend to use the same database be aware that you will need to change the table prefix from phpbb_ to something else when you are asked that question as part of the install. 1) Copy the phpBB-3.0.2.zip file to your public_...
