Just in case: the search only takes into account words with more than 3 letters - so the word and will not be found.

Also, there might be a list of common words which are excluded from the search tables: e.g. there is no point in searching for the word this or that.

Any quick way to optimize the whole thing? Will it cause any problems? Want us to install you a phpBB board or update your current one? Check us out here. hmmm? According to your signature I should be asking that question to you. Anyway, use phpMyAdmin (there's an checkbox to select all tables and ...

... define('PAGE_LINKS', -14); I changed PAGE_LINKS to -12 to keep the numbering in order and it appears to work now. In de mod instructions -14 is mentioned because there were other pages previously defined with other mods (at least that's what I think). But I tested this on 2.0.10 (with -14) and ...

_posts, posts_text and probably _topics also (since you started a new topic). Even going a bit further: suppose you started "watching" the topic >>> then you'ld also have to optimise the topics_watch table.

When in doubt, optimise the whole database.

That depends on the mods you install... Exactly! Take the example of a mod which only adds extra files. A new version of phpbb2.0.x wil most likely have no impact (if yes, then an update to the mods will be necessary in which case a new upload of mod-files wil suffice). Hardly any work or time spen...

Re: My bad

I can see the reasoning behind perhaps needing to move a single message Actually the mod mentioned earlier (which I haven't tried) doesn't cater to my needs. I would also like a mod which can move specific posts to another topic. At the moment I do it in the database directly but I'm working on a p...

You've GOT to be kidding, right? You can't even move a thread without modding the software? It constantly amazes me the basic features that have been left out of what I thought would be a mature package by version 2. You've GOT to be kidding, right? It constantly amazes me what some people take for...

You don't need a mod for this. The standard split tool (if you can moderate the forum) allows checking of posts within a topic. Just split the unwanted posts to a new topic and delete that new topic. And if a mod is preferred, you could start with the framework of the moderation tool (possibly even ...

I have read the file that comes with the download but it doesn't help me much. Then you'ld better read it again. This mod is much more simple to install than the two mods you've already installed. You cannot mess up your forum by uploading the files (to the correct directory of course) and just in ...

Especially since I already have 661 members and i really don't feel like manually adding them to a group... OK, but you could try WGEric's Admin Userlist Mod (see Mod Release forum). Not version 1.6.1 but version 2.0.1 (get it from his site) which allows really easy and fast adding of many members ...

Why not send mass emails to a predefined special group? Add everyone to that group on registration (there is even a mod somewhere which can do this automatically) and if they don't want to receive the mass email they just unsubscribe from the group.

Not good at this and may be misunderstanding but do you mean that there is an Admin function that can be toggled which changes the order across the BB? Not in my mod, here each user chooses his/her own sorting order... But there is mention of a mod which does this in this post . I haven't seen that...
