Re: Blocking IP addresses

I have been using the banhammer mod. Don't know if it's a good tool or not. Any thoughts? Yes, my first thought is that one shouldn't use "mods" with phpBB versions >3.1 and the support actions are currently focused towards getting the setup right, not adding mods or extensions before the board con...

Re: Upgrade to 3.2 didn't go so well.

I followed the link to the alternate instructions, posted above and I am still in the same place. It doesn't allow me to walk through the full install or update steps. When I go to the update tab and press update, it just goes straight to the last section down and throws the error I mentioned befor...

Re: +1, Like, or something similar

Anyway back on topic, I'm voting NO as a core feature (nothing against it as an extension).

Re: +1, Like, or something similar

*a lot of good stuff* What is so fundamentally wrong with the idea of providing features like this one as extensions: for those who feel to have a corresponding demand, but only for those? Or does my demand of having a fully functional BBS which is lean, fast and easily expandable with all the feat...

Re: How to erase old MODS after updating from 3.0 to 3.2

If you installed the mods via automod, they can be removed with automod. If not, look at the mod installation instructions and undo the changes. edit: I'm taking about database changes: no need to undo any file changes since they are replaced with the up grade .Alos upgrade with prosilver as default...

Re: Poster not showing in "last post"

Not much to go by but perhaps the field is empty in the database, or the data isn't passed (by index.php), or the template is missing the field (index_body.html)

Re: Upgrade to 3.2 didn't go so well.

There was a long list of files it didn't find in the update that I was instructed to remove before the install would let me continue. Many were a sub style of the default style. I run Proformell. I got the newest version of Proformell and copied those files in the proformell folder vai FTP. First o...

Re: Upgrade to 3.2 didn't go so well.

Try this:

Open phpbb/db/migration/data/v32x/fix_user_styles.php & find:
$enabled_styles = $result->fetch_array();
Replace with:
$enabled_styles = $this->db->sql_fetchrowset($result);

Out of interest, does anyone know of any cases of a forum implementing a like button - only to find the post count significantly drops because members just click like - rather than continuing the discussion?
No, I usually avoid forums with like or +1 buttons 8-)

Re: Help - [thumbnail=][/thumbnail]

Somewhere around beginning 2016 I played around with some BBcodes and adapted an existing BBCode from here. I'm fairly sure it was the website thumbnail BBcode from https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/extension/advanced_bbcode_box/support/topic/133141 so you might want to have a look at it. (If I sti...

Re: ACP and admin login fail upon complete of install

Since it's a new install and there's nothing to lose really, could you try to install 3.2.1 (and no extra styles yet)? (just to see if that works- shouldn't take all that long).
Yes, I totally forgot about the possibility of wrong cookie settings.

NRG
It's a phpBB special term - short form of "newly registered group"
OMG why didn't I think of that? Thanks, one to add to my list of acronyms .

Yes but goDaddy overwrites the backup every 2 days. So the Backup copied the bad data.
Very weird that the Data just disappeared.
Never trust the host for backups.
Always make your own backups and do not store them with your host. BTBSTS (Better to be safe than sorry)

Re: phpBB.com Website Feedback

When is the ideas forum going to start using NRG? There is spam being posted in there almost every day. What is NRG? I've searched on phpBB , Google and Wikipedia but can't find anything remotely relevant (expect by name perhaps National Routeing Guide,but that turns out to be a document defining t...

I am really pleased with phpbb and the support forum here on this community, I think I ma finally done with my forum and want to say thank you to everyone here who helped me out over the past 3 weeks.
