Re: Upgrade from 2.0.22 to 3.1.12

a config file should do the trick https://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?p=14942521#p14942521 OK, but by the time I had finished writing my post you and KevC had already posted and as long as there was nothing conflicting in my post I wasn't going to edit it and possibly create confusion).

Re: Upgrade from 2.0.22 to 3.1.12

If I do not import the phpBB2 database, then what I am converting? I don't get it. I repeat: I do not have the forum online. I am trying to install it using XAMPP on my computer. And another thing. I did some testing and it seems romanian characters (ăîşţâ) may get messed up on the conversion. So I...

Re: Upgrade from 2.0.22 to 3.1.12

I can't figure out how to comment out search tables wich I do not need anyway. :( Help! Please!!! I'll put it bluntly. If you don't know how to avoid having to work on those search tables: I suggest you don't mess with the database at all. (repeat hint: you do not need to do anything with the searc...

Re: Upgrade from 2.0.22 to 3.1.12

The problem is when I try to import 2.0 database I get this error: Why on earth are you trying to import all old database into a new database 2 upgrades higher? That's bound to fail since tables, fields and attributes are different. The correct way to upgrade = https://www.phpbb.com/support/docs/en...

Re: Different Admin Password for ACP

Gentlemen, vote for my idea of introducing 2FA. This solution is really needed nowadays. https://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=436&t=2438306 Thanks! Care to expand on what 2FA involves? If it implies a verification code being necessary and sent by SMS ... a NO GO from me. And whatever met...

viewtopic.php?f=456&t=2407761
but it only logs manual logins, not autologin.

Re: Complete Newbie requires initial guidence

It’ll have to pay for itself with ads. Can a worthwhile living be made from displaying ads on a forum? Not sure what I mean by worthwhile but it must be enough to cover costs plus an income of some sorts. What sort of income could be expected? Any initial advice and suggestions much appreciated Kee...

Re: Taking over an abandoned extension

hmmm? I been absent for some 10 days and this is one of the first things I read. Even though I didn't know javiexin and never made contact with him, it feels like a loss. His extensions were probably the first ones I could read and understand because he described almost each step in his files. It's ...

Not 100% sure but I kind of remember this being presented as an idea a couple of months ago (or perhaps it was a discussion).

Re: DB Backup Scheduler

to me, the biggest problem with the acp backup is that it will not work in bigdump. ??? Bigdump has been an irreplaceable item for me ever since my database backups (partials even) started to exceed 100 MB (zipped). The ACP backups work just fine with me with Bigdump (staggered), whereas phpMyAdmin...

Comes up with an error that users are already members
Is that a real error message preventing the action being exectuted?
Or is that a message stating that some users were already members and could therefore not be added (again)?

Re: Meaning of line in ACP

It makes sense to me, but I probably would have punctuated it a little differently. Probably put quotes around "From", as I did in my explanation. Also it is a little easier to read with hyphenated local-user, runs-as, and trusted-user. OK, I accept that it makes sense to you, and since reading you...

Re: members not in a group

Is there a easier way to put all these members with no group into a group? Ive got around 3760 members so its getting hard to find the last 80 odd ones Not 100% sure about this but AFAIR you can put multiple users into a group in one movement. The problem is you would have to select those users. Ho...

Re: Meaning of line in ACP

... I am assuming it means the login user that PHP is running-as. It looks like it is telling you that if you do not use SMTP and do not set the "force sender", that the "From" address would be the PHP login user. I'm no native English speaker but I usually get by, but not in this case. I've mailed...

This is a new line in language file en/acp/board.php: ...
